TIL that a Chinese barge spent much of 2022-2023 illegally pillaging scrap metal from WW2 war graves in Malaysian waters.

A full report of the barges actions was compiled in this (pdf warning) maritime observatory report

Looking at PDF report they are busted red handed. What a stupid move to fuck with WWII war graves - it's like the weather balloon all over again. CCP can you keep your country in check??

I’m sure CCP is aware and approves.

No. They simply do not care.

So the US has jurisdiction over any US military wreck globally in exchange for not pillaging war graves in domestic waters? Lmfao get fucked. You lost them boats fair and squaresies and have been too goddamn cheap and lazy to clean up your own mess. You snooze, you lose, especially when it comes to who gets the best pieces of garbage from the pile.

The navy needs to learn to clean up their messes.

This is a Chinese crew violating Malaysian law by salvaging a British warship.

Malaysian authorities are enforcing domestic law.

Colonizers gonna colonize. Doesn’t excuse leaving trash where it doesn’t belong. Good for the chineses. Dumb britbongs should’ve gotten on the ball if they wanted their toys back.

Guess you’re pretty pissed about China colonizing the South China sea, Tibet, and other territories.

LordGimp@lemm.ee on 06 Jul 2024 03:55 collapse

At least they keep it close to home. Chineses slaughtering Chinese adjacents is a popular pass time when they’re not too busy slaughtering each other. The only thing more dangerous to the Chinese than other chineses is literally every single culture they have interacted with historically across all time. Because they’re such swell folks.

Low background steel is a valuable resource.

thallamabond@lemmy.world on 05 Jul 2024 16:07 collapse

They don’t make them like they used to. Because they literally cannot.

They can, but it costs so much that salvaging it is cheaper

Apart from anything else, this could rupture and leak all kinds of toxic substances into the water, not the least of which being fossil fuels.
