Is Wikipedia but Russian! Is best Wikipedia!

ptz@dubvee.org on 30 Apr 13:02 next collapse

Assuming it still allows community edits, some brave soul is probably going to go all [Citation needed] on it and probably end up in a gulag.

NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world on 30 Apr 13:53 collapse

Blyatipedia page for “Gulag”:

Comrade, Gulag is wonderful place, many nice people and beautiful beaches. Food is amazing and lots of beautiful women. You get a new set of clothes and your very own room, which is very secure. You will have the best time!

Carrolade@lemmy.world on 30 Apr 14:00 next collapse

As awful as state controlled media is I look forward to reading the absurdities. The absolute distain communists have for jeans is absolutely hilarious, durable clothing made for sailors and miners is a sign of western opulence.

AbidanYre@lemmy.world on 30 Apr 13:25 next collapse

Why wait? You can go read conservapedia right now. Just as absurd, but possibly less Russian.

itslilith@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 30 Apr 13:53 collapse

Not by a lot, I reckon

floofloof@lemmy.ca on 30 Apr 14:48 collapse

What does communism have to do with the Russian government? Russia abandoned communism 34 years ago.

jimbolauski@lemm.ee on 30 Apr 17:13 collapse

The communists used state controlled media… Just like the Russians. Governments can only get away with saying crazy shit, like blue jeans are the devil, when there is no one to keep them in check.

Naich@lemmings.world on 30 Apr 13:26 next collapse

Should have forked Conservepedia - it’s already fucking stupid to start with.

billiam0202@lemmy.world on 30 Apr 15:11 collapse

You don’t fork what’s yours to start with.

Wikipedia is best it the original Russian.

john89@lemmy.ca on 30 Apr 14:01 next collapse

Not a big fan of carving up the internet like this.

mibo80@lemm.ee on 30 Apr 14:26 next collapse

The world needs to carve a Russian sized hole in the internet. it would be best for all of us.

john89@lemmy.ca on 30 Apr 14:29 collapse

No it wouldn’t.

TachyonTele@lemm.ee on 30 Apr 16:30 next collapse

Have you brought your concern up to the Russian government?

john89@lemmy.ca on 01 May 09:19 collapse

Why would they listen to me? Lol.

TachyonTele@lemm.ee on 01 May 14:32 collapse

That’s my point.

fishos@lemmy.world on 30 Apr 17:08 collapse

This is my exact response every time someone suggests federating wikipedia. This is exactly what you will get.

azimir@lemmy.ml on 30 Apr 14:15 next collapse

But Putin’s stooges already did this. Apparently one dictator-oriented misinformation spewing Conservapedia wasn’t enough. Gotta have two, I guess.

gedaliyah@lemmy.world on 30 Apr 14:17 next collapse

Why didn’t they just start with Metapedia? It would have been a shorter walk.

azimir@lemmy.ml on 30 Apr 14:14 next collapse

HootinNHollerin@lemmy.world on 01 May 04:42 collapse

Make edit, but make typo: shit that cancels out but still gulag for finding loophole in system. The system is flawless; it’s you who is wrong. Oh yea, did we mention gulag?

Russian truthiness.

cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 30 Apr 18:30 next collapse

as long as they don’t block ru.wikipedia.org, i don’t see it getting too much traction.

mzesumzira@leminal.space on 30 Apr 19:09 next collapse

They seem to have banned it

Sibbo@sopuli.xyz on 01 May 03:00 collapse

Article says they ban the original.

Commiunism@lemmy.wtf on 30 Apr 20:22 collapse

Suspect this might be clickbait, they didn’t ban the original wiki. I’ve asked a friend of mine from Russia to verify this and they were able to access the ‘old’ wiki, both English and Russian version just fine.
