Release the hostages!

EvergreenGuru@lemmy.world on 18 Aug 2024 06:38 collapse

Israel has decided to kill the negotiators representing the Palestinians so that they can continue destroying Palestinian people and their homes. Netanyahu is holding onto power by extending the war and escalating the violence. The decision of the Israelis to elect him may lead to a regional war should the country begin fighting Iran.

WanderingVentra@lemm.ee on 18 Aug 2024 07:10 collapse

Oh ya, definitely. I was just being ironic by using their same phrasing to represent kidnapped Palestinians instead.

FelixCress@lemmy.world on 18 Aug 2024 05:54 next collapse

Release the hostages, eh?

alvvayson@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 18 Aug 2024 07:38 next collapse

/s

Just gonna put that there, since it seems some people are missing the meaning of your comment.

FelixCress@lemmy.world on 18 Aug 2024 07:41 collapse

I thought it was obvious.

alvvayson@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 18 Aug 2024 09:13 collapse

I agree, but I saw you had some down votes.

prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 18 Aug 2024 12:22 collapse

Maybe they should just murder the hostage negotiators, that will help get them freed.

N0body@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 18 Aug 2024 05:59 next collapse

Netanyahu either needs to negotiate the release of the hostages and return of Palestinian children as part of a ceasefire immediately, or there needs to be a vote of no confidence in his government.

Doorbook@lemmy.world on 18 Aug 2024 07:31 next collapse

the whole Hamas plan was to attack, kidnap, negotiate release of people in prisons.

However, they thought that IDF care about the hostages, and that Hannibal Directive is no longer taught. What follow was IDF destroying any cars leaving back to gaza with hostages. Attacking and destroying any home or location hamas was holding hostage in, blaming every death on Hamas then go into a genocidal war in Gaza.

When two hostages with white flags get shot by IDF in the first few weeks you know the plan never to negotiate anything.

They only negotiate when they dont get money or weapon from their allies, however the united state and uk continue to support them so why negotiate?

lolcatnip@reddthat.com on 18 Aug 2024 16:33 collapse

Why not both?

BreadstickNinja@lemmy.world on 18 Aug 2024 07:50 next collapse

It’s almost like the Israelis keep them concentrated, in camps. You might even call them “concentration camps.”

Goodie@lemmy.world on 18 Aug 2024 08:09 next collapse

Gotta ask yourself how Israel has hostages to exchange on “day 1” of “this” conflict

charade_you_are@sh.itjust.works on 18 Aug 2024 08:51 next collapse

At least they haven’t outright killed them yet. Progress.

lolcatnip@reddthat.com on 18 Aug 2024 16:32 collapse

I see no progress, just Israelis understanding that the world is a lot more likely to overlook their genocide if they do it slowly enough.

charade_you_are@sh.itjust.works on 18 Aug 2024 17:07 collapse

It was sarcasm.

I’m this close to being antisemitic bro

I’m this close to being antisemitic bro

Oh do be careful with that. Being anti-zionist is normal, plenty of Jewish people are (see: Jewish Voice for Peace). Antisemitism, is different story since it’s a kind of racism with a dark history, to say the least.

Doom@ttrpg.network on 18 Aug 2024 12:26 collapse

Probably a bad joke on how any criticism of Israel makes one antisemitic

solo@slrpnk.net on 18 Aug 2024 13:32 collapse

I like your clarification, totally on board with that.

Dead_or_Alive@lemmy.world on 18 Aug 2024 12:04 next collapse

I mean it was the Palestinians who first took Israelis hostage in October. Turn about is fair play in war.

mmcintyre@lemmy.world on 18 Aug 2024 12:45 next collapse

This didn’t start last year. Are you justifying what Hamas did on October 7, too? Or at least categorizing it as “fair play” as well?

catloaf@lemm.ee on 18 Aug 2024 12:45 next collapse

No, Israel has been taking Palestinians and holding them hostage in prison for decades.

Antmz22@lemm.ee on 18 Aug 2024 14:43 collapse

Why did Hamas take hostages on oct-7?

Answer: To trade for the thousands of Palestinians already held hostage by Israel.

How did Israel have thousands of hostages already if Hamas was the first to take hostages on oct-7?

Answer: that’s just objectively not true.

DancingBear@midwest.social on 18 Aug 2024 13:52 collapse

All those newborn babies?

Believe it or not…. Hamas
