Musk says US military suicide drones used Starlink in violation of SpaceX rules (arstechnica.com)

When Elmo discovered that his network was used for killing people he immediately shitted this:

It is a violation of commercial Starlink terms of service to use the terminal for weapon systems. This applies to all users and is shut down when discovered

OMG he has ethics? Don’t use his tech for weapon systems? But then he continues to shit this on his shitter account:

There is a separate network called Starshield [that costs $25k/month/drone]

Ohhh i misunderstood him.

He’s not pissed because the Pentagon used his tech for bombing schools, he’s pissed because the Pentagon didn’t pay for the special military use license at 250x the normal rate.

Deport this foreign asset to the cecot and redistribute his wealth

(IMHO this is more tech than news, but the mods disagreed, so I post again in news)

He doesn’t have “ethics”…he just has contracts with both sides in every conflict. He’s probably looking at liability issues, that could cost him a lot of business.

ms_lane@lemmy.world on 28 May 08:18 collapse

He’s probably looking for a payout.

But sat around and took months if not years to shut off Russian terminals being used against ukraine

egrets@lemmy.world on 28 May 13:47 collapse

I hate the idea of arguing in Musk’s favor, but Starlink use by Russians has generally been achieved by them obtaining foreign terminals.

empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 28 May 14:54 collapse

And every single Starlink terminal is GPS traced to within 15 feet. Starlink does not work without exact GPS data on every terminal to direct the phased array antennas.

They know what terminals Russia has been using.

Musk needs to stfu and get back to making full self driving work. Everyone who owns a tesla is owed that, Elon, get your dumb lying grifter arse back to work.

FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world on 28 May 07:22 next collapse

Everyone who has bought a Tesla recently is a fucking idiot who made a choice to give money to a nazi

dracc@discuss.tchncs.de on 28 May 08:29 collapse

He became the Tesla CEO 18 years ago. That’s not my definition of “recently”.

FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world on 28 May 08:31 next collapse

I agree

I’ve always thought that he was a cunt, because I have followed scientific literature for many years

But I can understand how most people believed the PR campaign

He was seen as a visionary because that’s how he was marketed

The fact that he never came up with anything himself, and his truly hideous background was kept pretty quiet

flandish@lemmy.world on 28 May 13:47 collapse

there is no-one who bought a tesla that did not know they were supporting an actual active nazi.

flandish@lemmy.world on 28 May 13:46 collapse

no. he needs to follow his leader and Tesla should come back from the dead and personally shit in every tesla owner’s mailbox.

einfach_orangensaft@sh.itjust.works on 28 May 08:22 next collapse

Lol.

As usual musk plays the role of pretending that starlink is a civilian network and non totaly planed and funded by the DoD from the start.

He is nothing more than the sock puppet the DoD put on state so the world would let allow the usa to bild the biggest military project ever done in space without the world complaining to much about it.

mycodesucks@lemmy.world on 28 May 08:26 next collapse

Sure, it’s all stupid, but I DO want to see him pick a fight with Trump again so he can once again back down with his tail between his legs at the braying of a pedophile blob who’s being outnegotiated by a nation a fraction of the size of his own via meme videos.

dellish@lemmy.world on 28 May 09:27 next collapse

OK. Did Russia pay this fee while they were attacking Ukraine? Or is this a special US government fee because rorts?

anton@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 28 May 12:42 collapse

That’s when he noticed he doesn’t charge a government fee.

IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world on 28 May 10:51 next collapse

So same exact product, 1000x the cost.

The US military is designed to sap as much public funds and hand it over to stockholders. it’s a scam that can’t win wars.

KatherinaReichelt@feddit.org on 28 May 13:28 next collapse
  • US military is using starlink to target weapons
  • There is no way that they will stop doing that
  • In every conflict from now on everybody who has to fight against the USA and wants a chance to survive needs to disable Starlink
  • We saw with Russia that every major power needs its own network under its own control. You can’t wage a war when the USA is able to shut down your access
  • In such a war, the USA needs to destroy the enemy constellation
  • Kessler syndrome will happen in our lifetime

In every conflict from now on everybody who has to fight against the USA and wants a chance to survive needs to disable Starlink

Iran has been fighting well enough by working around Starlink. Plus, the easiest way to disable it is by jamming frequencies.

The irony is that Iran’s Shahed drones were probably… using GPS.

Gates9@sh.itjust.works on 28 May 16:33 collapse

Nobody believes that. Musk has entered the arena as a belligerent and should be treated accordingly.
