45 years ago the NYT first published about a ‘gay cancer’. They were describing AIDS. Governments, especially the US government, would ignore it anyway. These were desperate times for gay people.
To read these headlines brings me hope. And it shows me that anyone who says activism doesn’t work, here it is. Governments didn’t give a shit until activists forced them into action.
To me at least, these people saved lifes with their activism. Through sit-ins, fighting the cops, demanding change, literally dying on the steps of the halls of power.
I hope we remember everyone who fought for this.

I also doubt it, but having a lofty goal is not necessarily a bad thing. Aim for the stars, land on the moon type thing.
