China, the world’s largest importer of canola, also known as rapeseed, sources nearly all its supplies of the product from Canada. The steep duties would likely all but end imports if they are maintained.

Eh, other places make it. It looks like Europe grows a lot.

Canola and rapeseed are slightly different, especially in the oleic acid content which affects human palatibility. Europe won’t let canola in for human consumption because of the genetic modifications (right or wrong) but will for regenerative diesel production.

China doesn’t want rapeseed, they want canola for the oil they get from crush for human consumption, and the meal for pig feed.
