If anyone had any doubts about whether or not Putin was pulling the strings, this should silence them.

givesomefucks@lemmy.world on 01 Apr 14:56 next collapse

It’s not a carefully choreographed puppet show…

It’s like an art exhibit where any random person can walk up and yank on strings, often in opposite directions.

You’re assigning order to chaos, the same reason every early civilization had a “lightning god”.

Our brains want an explanation, so we invent them to explain chaos. Even when the explanation is clearly not matching up to reality.

Reality is a lot worse than just trump doing whatever Putin asks.

It’s less “puppet” and more multi-player QWOP where random people each have a single button.

snooggums@piefed.world on 01 Apr 15:29 next collapse

Putin controls a large number of strings and buttons.

Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works on 01 Apr 19:16 collapse

To steal a wonderful turn of phrase, Putin doesn’t pull Trump’s strings because he doesn’t have to. Getting him elected was enough. “Trump is a fire and forget idiot.”

Jhex@lemmy.world on 01 Apr 15:52 collapse

The orange child rapist is an idiot… the occam’s razor is still that he is too stupid, has no clue how anything works and is simply making one foolish decision after another.

Being this stupid, he is very easily manipulated (as is evident by now), so maybe Putin is manipulating him… but honestly, trump is simply too stupid to be anyone’s “asset”

WanderingThoughts@europe.pub on 01 Apr 16:02 next collapse

In the end it’s just a rich kid used to getting what he wants even if it’s stupid that got a fat cheque from his father

Corporal_Punishment@feddit.uk on 01 Apr 17:19 collapse

Yeah I’m giving him way too much credit

Eldritch@piefed.world on 01 Apr 14:49 next collapse

Sadly pulling out is not something the family is known for. Imagine if his father had. Man now wouldn’t that be something.

umbrella@lemmy.ml on 01 Apr 16:23 next collapse

another one would take his place

huquad@lemmy.ml on 01 Apr 18:46 next collapse

Promise?

Eldritch@piefed.world on 01 Apr 19:09 collapse

I don’t think so. Don’t get me wrong, trump is 100% a symptom. But there’s no one with even close to the cult of personality. Not even Musk. Who would takeover? Couch fucker? Thiel? That ghoul Ellison?

Nah, without trump they would have to be smarter and more competent to push their evil. And shockingly sometimes competent evil is better than stupid evil. I’d rather not see either. But that’s not a choice we get to make unfortunately.

umbrella@lemmy.ml on 01 Apr 19:35 next collapse

anyone could be pumped up by the media over a long enough timespan, just like trump was.

Eldritch@piefed.world on 01 Apr 23:47 collapse

But no one has been and that’s kind of the issue

Rivalarrival@lemmy.today on 02 Apr 01:56 next collapse

Couchfucker is going to 25th Amendment his ass in January.

backalleycoyote@lemmy.today on 02 Apr 04:41 collapse

I think you’re right no one else had the personality to form the cult, but the behind the scenes player have gotten where they need to be and are embedded enough they don’t need what follows to be another Trump. Elon is too egotistical to control, Vance has no charisma but will comply (better than Pence did). It won’t matter if the cult dissolves, they played their part, and even their objections won’t matter.

Eldritch@piefed.world on 02 Apr 12:06 collapse

I don’t know I think if people saw Shadow president Miller and his raving they would be pretty turned off. Elon isn’t really directly involved anymore. Peter Thiel knows he turns people off by them looking at him.

CircaV@lemmy.ca on 02 Apr 00:32 collapse

The most patriotic thing his father could have done was

Tap for spoiler

come on his mother’s tits

Seriously though. Fuck this American nonsense already.

Epstein files. Now.

BenLeMan@lemmy.world on 02 Apr 05:43 collapse

Will make zero difference to ardent supporters of the death cult. They know. They’ve known for years.

They do. Not. Care.

Most welcome.

HuudaHarkiten@piefed.social on 01 Apr 15:44 next collapse

At this point… just fuck off already. Rip off the bandage and let us start working on fixing the consequences. Evacuate the bases you guys have in the EU. Just leave us alone. Do the whole isolationism thing. Please, I beg of you.

You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of Dog, go.

einkorn@feddit.org on 01 Apr 16:20 next collapse

Do the whole isolationism thing. Please, I beg of you.

I don’t think that’s what’s Trump intends to do after leaving NATO.

HuudaHarkiten@piefed.social on 01 Apr 16:31 next collapse

I know, it was just my personal suggestion. IMO its time for America to do some isolation and look in the mirror for a decade, maybe two.

Mrkawfee@lemmy.world on 01 Apr 16:43 collapse

Apart from all the wars he’s launching.

sleepmode@lemmy.world on 02 Apr 02:35 collapse

This is kind of what he campaigned on… as one promise at least. Knew a few service members excited they’d get to be away less often if he was elected. That is the main reason some voted for him.

I kept telling them they were making a huge mistake because he will get a hair up his ass and do something stupid to stay in office or draw attention away from a fuckup. And here we are… multiple fuckups and failed distractions later. I wish I could see their faces now but they’re on their way to Iran. Heh.

TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 01 Apr 15:59 next collapse

Great. Get lost. So when you attack Greenland or Canada, article 5 can be used against the US instead of it being an internal dispute within NATO.

CircaV@lemmy.ca on 02 Apr 00:33 collapse

Exactly. America First = America Alone. Piss off wankees.

NATO is a defensive alliance. USA just showed the world it can’t even defend a 100 mile strip of water. How will it defend its allies when USA is crying it can’t do it and the allies have to take over. There isn’t much added value.

Danarchy@lemmy.nz on 01 Apr 16:13 next collapse

Well NATO is older than 13

prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 01 Apr 16:39 next collapse

I wish his hideous mom had done the same 80 fucking years ago or however old this sack of shit is

leoj@piefed.social on 01 Apr 17:51 next collapse

Iran has shown that the United States needs NATO, and NATO needs the United States, more than ever. If Iranian Shaheeds and their manpeds / S300s are hitting US fighters and sneaking past defenses, who knows what more advanced or just sheer high scale weaponry could do, air superiority does not feel guaranteed.

A near peer (Russia) conflict would be ugly on a scale not seen since WWI, a true peer (China) conflict would unleash horrors we cannot imagine. We will all need each other, as NATO is a significant deterrent factor, which could actually save the lives of millions through deterrence, or shift the balance of warfare through increase manufacturing and safe zone output.

Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works on 01 Apr 19:12 collapse

Keep in mind that the US are the only NATO member that refused Ukraine’s offers of assistance, training and intelligence sharing on anti-drone warfare. The rest of us have been actively wargaming how to deal with these kinds of threats for quite some time. The US is not a litmus test for the cutting edge of NATO anymore.

leoj@piefed.social on 01 Apr 22:56 collapse

I think you’re agreeing with me? I’m not sure, but that was the point I was trying to make - we need each other for different reasons.

Siegfried@lemmy.world on 01 Apr 21:58 next collapse

Also werden die Amerikaner das schaffen, was der EU nicht konnte: eine echte EU Armee… Danke sehr, ihr Schweine

CircaV@lemmy.ca on 02 Apr 00:30 next collapse

Do it then moron. USA = the only country to invoke article 5 in NATO. 🤡

favoredponcho@lemmy.zip on 02 Apr 05:00 next collapse

He can’t. He doesn’t have the authority to. Congress ratifies treaties. Congress cancels treaties.

ikidd@lemmy.world on 02 Apr 05:07 next collapse

Yah, that’s how its supposed to work. Except in bizarro world.

Paranoidfactoid@lemmy.world on 02 Apr 05:32 collapse

There was also legislation in 2023 to prevent a potential future Trump Administration from exiting out of NATO without 2/3 Senate approval or an act of congress. Ironically, it was sponsored by then Senator Marco Rubio.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today on 02 Apr 06:31 collapse

trump inherited his fathers POS qualities, he was going to play ball with fred or hes not getting the inheritance, and it was also passed down from his DRAFT-dodging grandfather too.
