I doubt that Trump is targeting anything beyond “Iran”, he can’t lead a military operation in any capacity.

Most building roofs don’t tell you that much. Especially in a city with multi-tenant buildings.

It is very common for buildings in Iran to be surrounded by high cement walls and fully enclosed courtyards, even private residences. This is partly due to their oppressive regime and a desire to keep having parties and generally normal private indoor lives.

No, it often cannot. That’s what I mean by “fully enclosed”, and I can see how you might have thought I just meant walls and no roof. I should have been more clear, but I was trying to differentiate between just having walls vs having full private enclosure for recreational spaces, which is common in Iran and also in a good chunk of other countries.
Schools or gyms often do have roofs as well, with vents or small/high windows for air circulation but no way to actually see inside because physical privacy is especially valued in Iran - not just because of the government but also because of cultural and religious traditions.
Taking satellite pictures at an angle though gives you quite a bit of information.

To me it seems to say that they can do it, and no one will stop them, or stand in their way, because they’ll do the same to those who oppose. I’d wait to point blame over this, we have no idea what happened. The Iranians were murdering thousands of their own civilians just a few weeks ago, they’re hardly a reliable source of information. They’re obviously going to inflate the numbers and craft a story to whatever helps the regime.

That would be unsurprising. I recall during the W admin, maybe Obama I just remember where I lived, they did a drone strike on a “militant group” that they did a typo on the name but blew up and killed the wrong group including their families and children and a wedding, and oh yeah they were totally militants after the fact but no one had heard of them before.
