One thing I learned is that no matter what my worst imagination can come up with, Trump always manages to surprise me by going beyond my wildest imagination. Of course he would toss a nuclear weapon if he thought it would help him, intimidate someone, or punish an enemy.
What a fucked up timeline to have that as a truth. Honestly, this whole thing is hitting me in a way I wasn’t expecting; I’m feeling that we are actually about to go into WW3. If you go onto All and look at the headlines, you can see which country is aligning for/against what just happened… the groundwork for the modern day Axis vs Allies.

In Tehran too. Thousands living in Baghdad didn’t stop us. A world leader willing and able to use nukes in a war they started with a non nuclear enemy is an extinction level threat. In 45 it was one thing, but we can carpet the other side of the planet with fusion warheads now.

The democrats come out supporting the nuking too, as theyre entirely captured by Israel and AIPAC stuff. Russia then bombs Ukraine, and maybe some EU countries – America spins that as proof that they were weak and were failed states moving towards “civilizational collapse”, something they’ve already laid the groundwork for claiming, and redoubles its efforts to annex Canada and Greenland, and to subdue/castrate any upstarts in south America, likely with increased threats of bombing them all with nukes. China takes Taiwan, cause if Nukes are free to use, there’s nothing really stopping them from doing so given general proximity – you can’t easily “park” a naval carrier group anywhere at sea to feign a projection of power, if your enemies are fine nuking the entire area to oblivion. That’s one reason the states is so against Iran getting nukes I imagine – it limits the deterrent influence of their more conventional military assets. Sorta like how the USA suddenly got real quiet about North Korea and the “DOOOM!!!” that’d occur if they got nukes… once NK actually got nukes (and the doom didn’t occur! surprise! but trust us, Israel says Iran’s different!).
Directly nuking a country that has nuclear capabilities would likely still be ‘off the table’ generally, as it’d trigger potential retaliation. But the rest get screwed. The USA has already walked away from its commitment to things like NATO, and has openly said they’re fine letting Russia ‘do whatever the hell they want’ with European countries.
The above string of events sounds far fetched. But I find it far more believable than to think that Americans will actually do something about the shit their administration/country is pushing.
I have no faith the world would do shit. Particularly if the nuke is “limited” or “targeted” or “pinpoint” or whatever bullshit they want to use to justify mass murder.
I admire your optimism. If Trump drops a smallish nuke on a remote reactor facility, we will get grave concern at best. The world has shown its hand already. It isn’t going to do shit, and nobody is coming to help us.
The world would “express great concern” and Americans would sit on their asses and do nothing.

On one hand, nukes have been a clear deterrent for most of the time they have existed. Their use in these operations against Iran wouldn’t just be unprecedented, but it would be wasteful too: what targets require such firepower instead of other, more sensible options? It’s ironic, but nukes are arguably worse weapons when deployed versus sitting in their silos while deployment is threatened.
That said, “unprecedented” doesn’t mean much any more, and Trump is totally the kind of person who would drop one just because he can. Instead of “I am become death” we’d get “I am dropping a big, beautiful bomb. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
But the repercussions would be massive. On a scale not yet seen. I’m not talking about repercussions from Iran: the world would need to stand up against MAGA in a big way. Much bigger than has happened so far. I’m not even sure what it would look like, frankly.
Funny how people use other movies like Idiocracy to compare where we are, but I never see this one mentioned. It's a UK drama and the US is in the background, but the parallels that we do see are disturbingly close. Particularly in how the world shut out the US as it declined into a fascist state.

We joke about Sun Tzu’s advice being obvious, but it’s the advice that an emotionally driven narcissistic nepo baby needs, because that’s who historically has been in charge of militaries. Anyone who understands people knows that cornered people don’t surrender unless the risk benefit feels worth it, but people who don’t understand other people’s mindsets and are focused on glory/conquest are going to think that you can bomb a regime into peaceful surrender and that they’ll gladly give up their leaders. No, you make moderates into combatants like that.
Iran was having mass protests for liberalization. We could have been the heroes offering an out to the leaders and helping establish a liberal republic giving favorable deals. Make Iran into an ally for less money than war. But no, that’s not a dick measuring contest that shows how tough they are and so now a bunch of children will die and Iran will continue to hate us for good reason.

I’d wager that the part they aren’t saying out loud has to do with a few different things:
Distraction from Epstein, which seems to be working. Iran operations now dominate the news cycle.
War offers some economic gains, at least in the short term for a few big players.
War fits into the “law and order” narrative Trump is desperately trying to milk, in a way that the DHS debacles have not done. Unprovoked attack on Iran even just as a show of force has been a conservative wet dream since at least the Bush Jr. days.

Honestly, as much as I hate the Epstein distraction narrative, it probably did play a role because Trump is petty like that. At the same time, this distraction is much more impactful than what it’s distracting from.
If we start seeing a bunch of "Don't change horses midstream" political commercials soon, then I know we're in a simulation, and the creators are just lazy, pulling from "Wag the Dog" because they're out of ideas.
