Experts say Observations Group’s connections to the Base and Rinaldo Nazzaro present ‘urgent danger’

In the underworld of accelerationist neo-Nazis, where talk of attacks against western governments are commonplace, the spread of illegal weapons manuals and tradecraft on drone warfare are proliferating. Experts say, in some cases, that classes are being taught online with the input of leadership from proscribed terrorist groups with links to Russian intelligence.

Authorities have been warning, on both sides of the Atlantic, about the accessibility of drone technologies and military veterans on the far right with the know-how to use them, presenting a grave national security threat.

“Offering military-style training materials, including drone tradecraft, to the extreme right indicates that this is for prepping purposes,” said Joshua Fisher-Birch, a terrorism analyst with close to a decade of experience tracking militant movements. “[To] improve the capacity of extremist networks to commit violence, or to encourage acts of violence specifically.”

Fucking hell. As a former military offcer the sickens me to my core. I’m in Western North Carolina and if anybody wants to learn to use firearms and gun safety let me know I’ll be happy to help.

Be careful. I think what you just said probably labels you as an antifa terrorist.

Hey, why are not demolishing the Alamance deathcamp?
Why do sundown towns persist in your area?

ProfThadBach@lemmy.world on 17 Nov 19:09 next collapse

What it your point? So you assume that because I live in WNC that I am a shitty person? That I am personally responsible for the bad actions of all the shitty people? Feel free to get out from behind your computer screen and put you ass where your mouth is. Go demolish that deathcamp or go raise hell in one of those sundown towns. I would be happy to drive your around WNC to some of these town and let you show your ass. Did you even look at the towns on the NC sundown town website? Did you even read the main page of that website? Painting a group of people with broad strokes because of the accident of geography is just another form of prejudice and does nothing but divide us.

I’m sure you got court martialed for that unifying message that inspires millions of Americans to continue deathcamps.
But feel free to entrap&abduct more innocent Juanitas in Charlotte & Ashville.

Have you looked at the towns on that site?

So many are just “possible” and they don’t list ANY supporting evidence or links to primary sources. I was super intrigued because I thought it was a cool resource, but my city has one comment saying that someone who supposedly lived there in the 50s heard someone say that blacks weren’t welcome.

Some have literally no comment even.

It doesn’t even say these ARE current sundown towns, just ones they someone suspects could have been LITERALLY EVER IN THEIR PAST.

I am wondering if you know how to redeem former claimed SDT.

The deathcamp still stands btw. Time to comit acts of bravery.

A popular grift for ex-military guys is to take you out into the wilderness and scream at you while waving a gun for a week or three, then bill you thousands of dollars for the privilege.

Where this gets really ugly is the “Scared Straight” teen boot camps. One of the more notable instances of this was Monarch School, Montana which effectively used the status of its students - kids with criminal records, history of drug abuse, or other behavioral issues - as cover to effectively get paid to inflict physical, mental, and sexual abuse on them for the duration of their stay.

I would be worried about it from a “this is how white nationalists can sucker their conservative/libertarian neighbors out of their meager savings” angle. Great way to turn a profit off the troop worship and profit from the mythological popular understanding of military academies. But if you think these wash-outs and blowhards are turning their even-less-experienced Republican wanna-be warrior neighbors into the next Vietcong, I would check your expectations a tad.
