This is the best summary I could come up with:

The war began on 7 October after Hamas led a wave of deadly attacks on communities inside Israel.

Last week US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called on Israel to lower the intensity of its strikes to limit “harm done to civilians”.

On Tuesday Herzi Halevi, chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces, told a news conference that the war would “continue for many more months” to ensure that “our achievements are preserved for a long time”.

A previous temporary truce deal negotiated by Qatar saw dozens of hostages released from Gaza in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

Meanwhile Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer is Washington for talks with Mr Blinken and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.

The talks will focus on “matters related to the conflict in Gaza and the return of hostages held by Hamas”, National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson said.

The major players who lead to the Nazi cure don't recognize the Palestinian state. And murdering your own citizens is well within the purview of a nation state.

Israel will need to be held accountable by the rest of the world

Technically they'd be stateless in that case, not Israeli citizens, which is worse.

loki@lemmy.ml on 27 Dec 2023 01:58 next collapse

The genocide will continue

with blessings from the West.

rivermonster@lemmy.world on 27 Dec 2023 08:19 collapse

Not everyone in the west is pro hamas. Worldnews and Al Jazeera (read Qatar state media and Hamas propaganda outlet) are a bubble.

folilzodos@lemmy.world on 27 Dec 2023 08:25 collapse

Literally no one I know supports Israel. There are constant protests pro-Palestine in pretty much all Western countries. Pro-Israel rallies do exist & the media tries hard to bring them into focus, but they’re nowhere near as big nor frequent. The public opinion is rightfully on the side of the Palestinians. Our political leaders are out of touch and just follow their next paycheck.

If Aljazeera is a Hamas Propaganda outlet then Haaretz and every other Israeli newspaper are Zionist propaganda outlets.

rivermonster@lemmy.world on 27 Dec 2023 09:04 next collapse

That’s why I said you’re in a warm, happy bubble. LOL, I’d recommend staying there. You would not like reality.

folilzodos@lemmy.world on 27 Dec 2023 09:06 collapse

Your reality and my reality are obviously very different. I wonder what makes you think that only what you perceive is the „true“ reality

davepleasebehave@lemmy.world on 27 Dec 2023 10:51 collapse

don’t fall for the weak trolling. it’s a concerted effort as they know that bombing children is a bad look.

folilzodos@lemmy.world on 27 Dec 2023 14:42 collapse

Yeah sometimes I forget to stop engaging with these trolls and just let their comments disappear

Doorbook@lemmy.world on 27 Dec 2023 19:58 collapse

I can add notes to user. Adding IDF note to these users helps a lot to reduce engagement.

teichflamme@lemm.ee on 27 Dec 2023 21:57 collapse

The protests are largely carried by Muslim immigrants or their children though.

what would that be lol

jordanlund@lemmy.world on 29 Dec 2023 12:08 collapse

Removed. Comment was fine until you wished for the destruction of Israel. Do not advocate violence.

ShroOmeric@lemmy.world on 29 Dec 2023 19:14 collapse

Okay, but I see many people here justifying the masacre in Gaza committed by Israel: that makes me think that it would be also fine for me to say that I hope that will happen in Israel what is now happening in Gaza. As far as logic goes, justifying the masacre now is also advocating violence. Correct me if I’m wrong.

jordanlund@lemmy.world on 29 Dec 2023 19:28 collapse

It’s a little different, the removed comment was wishing for Israel what happened to Nazi Germany, so the complete destruction and eradication of the state of Israel.

If someone were advicating for the elimination of Palestine or the complete destruction of Gaza and the West Bank, I’d remove those comments as well.

BUUUT, that being said, I do have a life and don’t have time to comb through comments one by one. :) So as mods we rely on reports before taking action. This comment was reported, others may not have been.

ShroOmeric@lemmy.world on 30 Dec 2023 07:01 collapse

My good friend, what are you talking about? What eradication? Last time I’ve checked Germany was still there, and the germans too. I understand you can’t read every comment but when you do give it more than a second of consideration. What happened in Germany was eradication of Nazism, not of the country.

mwguy@infosec.pub on 04 Jan 2024 04:34 collapse

not of the country.

The country was split into 4ths.

ShroOmeric@lemmy.world on 04 Jan 2024 12:27 collapse

And still exists.

mwguy@infosec.pub on 05 Jan 2024 15:56 collapse

It was reconstituted years later. The country was destroyed first.

ShroOmeric@lemmy.world on 05 Jan 2024 17:31 collapse

So help me out here: are you trying to convince me that Germany went through genocide and ethnic cleansing? Because I think people in Germany would deserve to know about it.

curiousaur@reddthat.com on 27 Dec 2023 05:25 next collapse

This is a genocide. The Israeli government and military however are obligated to make absolutely certain nothing like 10-7 can ever happen again. Does anyone have a solution to ensure that that’s better that complete genocide?

Snoozemumrik@lemmy.world on 27 Dec 2023 10:27 next collapse

Yes, genocide is worse. End the occupation.

blahsay@lemmy.world on 28 Dec 2023 02:37 next collapse

Hamas should surrender. They’re not winning this but they are getting a lot of Palestinians killed.

mwguy@infosec.pub on 05 Jan 2024 16:02 collapse

Dead Palestinians is a Hamas war goal.

ShroOmeric@lemmy.world on 29 Dec 2023 18:28 next collapse

There are not shortcuts if all you want is a genocide.

mwguy@infosec.pub on 04 Jan 2024 04:33 collapse

If all they wanted was genocide they would have stayed on their side of the border and simply shelled Gaza to the ground.

penquin@lemm.ee on 26 Dec 2023 21:08 next collapse

I love how they’re calling it a “war”. Lmao You mean the ethnic cleansing that Israel doing against Palestinians? They’re literally doing whatever Hitler to them. Wtf

Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee on 26 Dec 2023 23:54 collapse

They’ve said, multiple times, their goal is to eliminate Hamas. This shouldn’t come as a surprise.
