Survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse believe British police are failing them, a former top prosecutor has said.
Nazir Afzal, who prosecuted grooming gangs in northern England, said there has been quick action when state interests are involved while allegations of harm to women have been ignored.
Afzal, former chief crown prosecutor for north west England, said meanwhile claims of serious harm to women have seen little action.
Six forces are examining flights coming into the UK allegedly at the behest of Epstein carrying trafficked women. Two other forces are examining claims of sexual assault.
No allegations linked to harm against women have been judged by any force to merit a full criminal investigation.
Afzal told the Guardian: “When the state is the victim, the state moves at pace. When women are alleged victims the state barely moves at all.

I doubt they’re being ignored so much as it is much easier to prosecute crimes where there is concrete evidence. Al Capone wasn’t convicted for countless murders etc, but tax evasion.
At least once they’re incarcerated, it’s not impossible to try them on other charges
I doubt they’re being ignored but rather high ups in the police have said actively said they’d not too look into it.
There was a scandal a couple of years ago where men were being prosecuted for sexual offences without the claims being properly investigated. A high percentage of trials collapsed when the accusers were caught lying, but by then the men had been publicly named and a great deal of damage had been done.
This led to a see-saw where the CPS dropped cases unless the evidence met a very high bar.
Nothing will change as long as the people allow the corrupt to stay alive in power.
