This is the most stereotypically bourgeoise scare-piece the Guardian could’ve crapped out. Yes the public school system is an amazing leg-up in life ( know a few old boys) and feeds Oxbridge with intake, but both together form a significant part of the UK’s entrenched power structure and I’d rather see money funnelled into state schools to make sure that everyone at least has some access to opportunities, even if you won’t just get into a big firm straightaway through the old boy’s network.
