Israel bans at least six medical aid missions from entering Gaza (www.middleeasteye.net)

At least six medical aid missions currently operating inside the Gaza Strip received orders this week from the Israeli government that they would no longer be allowed access to their patients in the enclave.

Israel’s coordinator of government activities in the territories (Cogat) appeared to give no reason for the decision to ban the missions from Gaza.

Cogat’s decision comes on the heels of a New York Times guest essay published on 9 October, entitled, “65 Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics: What We Saw in Gaza.”

How dare Israel do this immediately after receiving a strongly worded letter from the US administration about letting aid into Gaza? Don’t they realize they’re on track to get another stern warning, or maybe even a disapproving phone call?

Aceticon@lemmy.world on 21 Oct 09:41 collapse

I bet Bliken will go there personally to rebuke them, since that’s the only way he can give them a wink and a nod along with the stern warning.

Sees like Israel is banking 100 % on trump winning the election. They know full well that the US won’t put anything behind their demands just weeks before the election, and if Trump wins, all demands will be thrown out the window.

My guess is that they’re thinking they can keep pushing it for a couple more weeks, and if Kamala wins, they’ll deal with that then.

And we keep playing into his hands.

What exactly will they have to deal with if Harris gets elected?

NeuronautML@lemmy.ml on 21 Oct 09:06 next collapse

They’ll be hit with that “trying to negotiate a ceasefire” and “investigations of allegations” that lead nowhere, sometimes, for sure. Maybe they’ll even have to watch a pier that does nothing being built. I can imagine things like that can be a little annoying and hamper the workflow when you’re trying to carry out a genocide, as opposed to full steam ahead genocide.

I bet they’re really shaking in their boots at the inconvenience a president Harris would be.

They might have to deal with her actually upholding the ultimatum that’s been put forward regarding letting aid into Gaza.

They might even see her take make a stand and actually stop or restrict weapons exports and stop tip-toeing once she’s safely elected.

I’m not making any promises, but those are all at least hypothetical possibilities if she’s elected. Not so much if Trump is.

She’s in power now. Why would she stop? Tim waltz said the expansion of Israel is imperative.

Yeah shit sucks. The ban actually prevents people going into Gaza. Once someone has left, they can’t come back and no new people are getting in. It also is 7 orgs afaik. Operations in Gaza don’t stop right now, at least for us. Best thing someone can do to help is to contribute to campaigns ran by these orgs. Launchgood.com has a bunch of fundraisers for Gaza and Lebanon

Welp, confirmed, stop sending weapons now?
