Three cargo vessels have been hit by “unknown projectiles” in the Strait of Hormuz, maritime authorities say, as pressure intensifies on one of the world’s most important shipping lanes.
Traffic through the strait - a vital corridor for oil - has fallen sharply since Israel and the US attacked Iran in late February, sending global energy prices soaring.
Iran said it unleashed another volley of retaliatory attacks across the Gulf on Wednesday, with targets including a major oilfield in Saudi Arabia and drones falling near Dubai International Airport.

Their kinda known. It’s not a mystery.
Like standing up in a WWI trench - something hit me, what the fuck could that have been?!
Well was it a Noor, Qader, Ghadir, Ra’ad, Nasr-1, Kowsar, Zafar, Khajir Fats, Hormuz 2, maybe an old expect they had lying around.
(I was just going to make the joke and name 2 or 3 Anti Ship Missiles, then looked it up and was amazed just how many different ASM systems Iran has in their arsenal, that list isn’t even half of the models listed.)
Closing Hormuz is their “nuclear option”. Its one of the reasons why they never sought a nuclear weapon. That’s why they have so many anti ship missiles.
If only we could have known that Iran would close the Strait of Hormuz if attacked! /s
Some things are just unknowable…
There are known knowns and well that’s about the only thing relevant here.
Geopolitics aside I love to see less oil going out into the world. Silver linings I guess.
It’s just all parked in one spot now and surrounded by explosives, which doesn’t seem much better.
