This will also apply to things like Amazon, SHEIN, and Temu.

edit TEMU not TRUMP

I’d be happy to pay the VAT if someone sold and crate-shipped Trump to a third world country. How much is 12% on a dollar anyway…

clutchtwopointzero@lemmy.world on 04 Oct 08:15 next collapse

Heh how they will collect that VAT?

SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de on 04 Oct 10:14 next collapse

the way any vat is collected? when a philippine customer buys a service there

By taking hostage their back offices and call centers and paralyzing their operations until they pay :)

Very asshole tax?

BrightCandle@lemmy.world on 04 Oct 11:57 collapse

Probably the only way they will get taxation money out of the tech giants given all the shady things they do to transfer the profits out of countries to evade taxes. VAT at least is a lot more obvious and harder to avoid although I don’t put it past them to start doing even shadier things.
