Damn why didn’t Biden try that /s

BaroqueInMind@lemmy.one on 22 Jan 2025 18:32 next collapse

Trump is already looking like the impotent elderly moron and he barely just got back in power.

Next four years will be a shit show

T00l_shed@lemmy.world on 22 Jan 2025 18:32 next collapse

He’s so old.

sensiblepuffin@lemmy.funami.tech on 22 Jan 2025 22:04 collapse

If there was any justice in the world then he would have died during his first term.

T00l_shed@lemmy.world on 22 Jan 2025 22:29 collapse

I just think he is too old to govern. (Using the arguments they used against biden)

GreyEyedGhost@lemmy.ca on 23 Jan 2025 01:17 collapse

If his being too old to govern was the only problem, I’d be a lot happier.

Trump’s plan for the next four years:

  • Send Israel bigger bombs
  • Fuck up the environment
  • Fuck up the economy
  • Fuck up education
  • Fuck up privacy rights
  • Fuck up LGBTQ+ rights
  • Fuck up civil rights
  • Fuck up the proper functioning of government
  • Fuck up the military
  • Fuck up healthcare
  • Fuck up our alliances
  • Crib everything else from Biden or Obama <- We are here

You missed that the tariff threat means he backed out of NAFTA. Which he re-signed last time.

blakenong@lemmings.world on 22 Jan 2025 19:09 next collapse

But but genocide joe?!?!?!

small44@lemmy.world on 22 Jan 2025 19:34 collapse

How hard it is to call out trump zionizm without justifying Biden complicity with the genocide

blakenong@lemmings.world on 22 Jan 2025 19:38 collapse

Apparently very difficult for some. Especially since they chose to abstain from voting, making everything even worse. But, they will continue to justify their decision by not understanding or acknowledging the chaos to come.

Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world on 22 Jan 2025 19:45 next collapse

Apparently very difficult for some. Especially since they chose to abstain from voting, making everything even worse.

If they were too insignificant to listen to, they are too insignificant to blame.

blakenong@lemmings.world on 22 Jan 2025 20:47 collapse

Guess it’s not Trump’s fault because someone thought he was too insignificant to listen to?

JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world on 23 Jan 2025 05:59 collapse

Right? Let’s blame the system and the politicians for a vote I chose not to make.

blakenong@lemmings.world on 23 Jan 2025 06:06 collapse

Leopards 🤷‍♂️ they’re always hungry.

SlopppyEngineer@lemmy.world on 22 Jan 2025 19:43 next collapse

I’m sure he can find ways to make healthcare even worse, sell out the remainder of your privacy to big tech and look for ways to give everybody’s job to AI.

You inspired me. I added a few more entries.

Isn’t it cute when your little one puts on his pouty face, stomps his foot, and says, “No more broccoli”?

Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world on 22 Jan 2025 19:46 collapse

That was literally George Bush Senior.

Gork@lemm.ee on 22 Jan 2025 18:44 next collapse

I thought he was supposed to end the war within 24 hours of him taking office?

He hasn’t kept his campaign promise!

Valmond@lemmy.world on 22 Jan 2025 19:15 collapse

No, it was 24 hours after being elected.

It’s so tiresome people even seem to think he even believed it himself, not talking about you ofc go ahead and bash him! But about “journalists” and youtubers etc.

JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world on 23 Jan 2025 05:57 collapse

If you listen hard enough, some even say he was responsible for the ceasefire, even from before he was sworn in.

Actually you don’t even have to listen very hard. Stupid is pretty loud these days.

brucethemoose@lemmy.world on 22 Jan 2025 19:12 next collapse

Putin must be laughing in his chair. More sanctions?

Valmond@lemmy.world on 22 Jan 2025 19:16 collapse

Well they do work, it just not very fast.

sensiblepuffin@lemmy.funami.tech on 22 Jan 2025 22:11 collapse

As we’ve seen, they don’t work at all if countries like India and China are still willing to trade with them via backdoor channels.

Syntha@sh.itjust.works on 23 Jan 2025 04:19 collapse

What we’ve seen is the exact opposite. The state is running huge deficits, burning through its war chest, and the economy is very hot right now.

sensiblepuffin@lemmy.funami.tech on 23 Jan 2025 04:59 collapse

Indeed so. But who’s loaning them money? Who’s buying their oil? It’s not no one.

Valmond@lemmy.world on 23 Jan 2025 08:53 collapse

Well burning through their savings, and printing money like Weimar means they do absolutely not sell enough oil. So they do sell but largely not enough.

Even less is better ofc.

sensiblepuffin@lemmy.funami.tech on 24 Jan 2025 18:33 collapse

Of course, less is better. I’m just saying that for sanctions to have the intended effect, everyone needs to be on board with punishing them.

Valmond@lemmy.world on 24 Jan 2025 19:14 collapse

Well the sanctionsare working. Better and bettet too. Of course russia will try to slither around them, that is to be expected.

Linktank@lemmy.today on 22 Jan 2025 19:30 next collapse

Man he sure sounded confident he could end things “On day one!”…

Was this really all he had up his sleeve? Pathetic.

BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca on 22 Jan 2025 19:33 next collapse

Like I get the whole shitting on Trump thing. But it gives me a bit of hope he isn’t just cutting Ukraine off or trying to force them to capitulate.

Could even argue he might handle this better than Biden…

Putin must be very weak right now to have his (former?) lapdog potentially turn on him.

FundMECFSResearch@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 22 Jan 2025 19:39 collapse

I hate that I’m doing this but here’s the link to his announcement on truth social. truthsocial.com/…/113872782548137314

He spends 2/3rd of the post sucking up to Putin.

I really really heavily doubt he will overperform Biden on this.

Ugh, fair enough

jlh@lemmy.jlh.name on 23 Jan 2025 00:43 next collapse

dude just multiplied Russia’s WW2 casualties number by 10x lol

60M?

Highest figures for Russia+ukraine+others combined is 27M!

jj4211@lemmy.world on 23 Jan 2025 03:15 next collapse

Given the use of the word settle, I am concerned it means Russia can promise to stop with only half of Ukraine and Trump will turn that into a victory and blame Ukraine for being unreasonable…

blarth@thelemmy.club on 23 Jan 2025 05:52 collapse

That is what will happen.

blarth@thelemmy.club on 23 Jan 2025 05:52 collapse

Ok I read it.

Here’s my take.

This is a set up. Putin now has to say “ok, ok, we’ll make a deal!”

Then he says he’ll end the operation in Ukraine but only if they retain taken territory.

Then Trump gets to say that’s reasonable, and Zelenskyy becomes the disagreeable one for saying no.

Trump then turns on Zelenskyy.

I give it 3 months before this chain of events becomes reality.

taiyang@lemmy.world on 22 Jan 2025 22:27 collapse

Did Zelensky promise Trump hotels in Ukraine or something during his meeting a month ago? Like a Mar-a-Lago in Crimea?

Drusas@fedia.io on 23 Jan 2025 02:53 collapse

Probably. And honestly, gross though the idea is, it would have been wise. He has a country to save.

taiyang@lemmy.world on 23 Jan 2025 03:47 collapse

Turning Crimea into Europe’s Florida would be worth returning it and protecting it. I just wish I was a fly on the wall to see what the heck he did to sway the orange one.

Drusas@fedia.io on 23 Jan 2025 03:51 collapse

Don't do that to Crimea. Nobody deserves that.
