“The Israeli intelligence documents make several claims that Sky News has not seen proof of and many of the claims, even if true, do not directly implicate UNRWA,” Middle East correspondent Alistair Bunkall wrote Thursday.

February 1st, so before today’s events

Deceptichum@kbin.social on 11 Feb 2024 04:40 collapse

Before they found an Hamas branded electrical storage tunnel?

Zero evidence before, still zero evidence now.

Rapidcreek@lemmy.world on 11 Feb 2024 04:41 collapse

The media were given a tour

Deceptichum@kbin.social on 11 Feb 2024 04:46 next collapse

From tour they gave at Al-Shifa "HQ tunnel" that never turned up anything substantial

CNN analysis: Video suggests IDF might have rearranged weaponry at Al-Shifa prior to news crew visits

From the tour they gave at the graveyard

Israel claims a tunnel ran through this Gaza cemetery it destroyed. A visit to the site raised more questions than answers

But this tour is super duper legit!

But this was written before…

Deceptichum@kbin.social on 11 Feb 2024 05:20 next collapse

Israel claimed they had evidence before, this shows they did not.

Israel has fabricated evidence for the media twice already before, the third time is now cast into doubt.

Israel claims that Hamas is using Al-Shifa to store weapons - Video suggests IDF might have rearranged weaponry at Al-Shifa prior to news crew visits

Israel claims a tunnel ran through a cemetry - Israeli commanders failed to prove their claim during a three-hour visit to the Bani Suheila cemetery and the surrounding area.

Israel claims the UNRWA is involved directly with Hamas in Gaza - ???

You can cut and paste as much as you like, but it still is true this was written before today.

Limitless_screaming@kbin.social on 11 Feb 2024 05:45 collapse

it still is true this was written before today.

I didn't even imply that it wasn't. Doesn't change the fact that they lied before and will lie again.

Just like the “Hamas tunnels” under the hospital too!

Israel lies constantly. Fuck Israel.

Alto@kbin.social on 11 Feb 2024 05:12 next collapse

That's because Israel classifies anything other than actively supporting their genocide as aiding Hamas

No one credible will see proof because there isn't any.

This is like the WMDs dossier all over again.

Just a heads up, sky news is was owned by Murdoch and is similar to overseas fox news, albeit a bit less crazy. (Newscorp still has money the Australian version). Looks like it was spun off somewhat recently, in the 10s.

Was.

The British government basically force him to reduce his stake in the industry and it was sold off in 2018, it's now owned by Comcast who also own NBC.

His origins are irrelevant in the current company

The ever respectable Comcast lol.

That is good to know though. Thanks.

Keep in mind that the Israeli government has a profound interest in killing off anything that even remotely would help the Palestinian people to survive. UNRWA had been a thorn in their side for that very reason. So anything discrediting and defunding the program aligns perfectly with the goals of this war. And all “evidence” so far comes from the Israeli side.

First, there were 12 or 13 local people working for UNRWA who were supposed to be in cahoots with Hamas. In a group of 12+k people who work for UNRWA locally. The Hamas probably never notified that they had put spies or agents into that UN organisation working in their land, and the UNRWA most likely did not know who they were, or they would have taken care of them to keep their position clear. If the IDF knew about them beforehand, why did they not notify the UN about it? If they only learned about those supposed agents later, why do they assume it is the UNs fault for not knowing about them?

Now it’s about Hamas tunnels under some UNRWA buildings. Again, the Hamas dug those tunnels everywhere in Gaza where they thought it would be more safe than elsewhere, and they most likely did not file for building permits or inform UNRWA about it.
