Rubio’s announcement said the PA must halt efforts “to bypass negotiations through international lawfare campaigns”, including appeals to the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice, and efforts to secure the unilateral recognition of a conjectural Palestinian state”. The Trump administration cites these two actions as having “materially contributed to Hamas’s refusal to release its hostages, and to the breakdown of the Gaza ceasefire talks.”

Wow.

“Part of the agreement with the UN is that the host country for its headquarters allows all heads of state to address the annual gathering.

The Palestinian Authority "stressed that this decision stands in clear contradiction to international law and the UN Headquarters Agreement”

THIS HERE ^^

The Trump Admin is using this to destroy the fundamentals of the UN. The UN will have to move out of the US which is exactly what they want to achieve without saying it out loud.

UN was always spineless. They should abolish all parts except it’s humanitarian entities

the UN is a place for diplomacy at all costs: nothing more. any action that comes from the UN is simply a secondary outcome of facilitating talk between countries

it’s not meant to have teeth - it’s meant to facilitate agreement, and avoid misunderstanding

Agreements that nobody respect, it’s a waste of everybody money and time.

UNRWA,WHO,UNICEF,UNHCR has concrete effects while icj and icc and resolution voting are useless. Powerful countries will do wathever it want regardless of icj ,icv snd ressolutions

They’re mentioning this as if the US had ever cared about any international law. Or about the UN for that matter.

The US is an unreliable partner in all aspects of diplomacy and economic trade. The fact that the UN has been structured in such a way that the organization cannot meaningfully check the US, is a poison pill that undermines its entire mission.

The security council should not have a veto. At best they should be able to deny troops to any action.

Just locking anyone with an opposing opinion out worked for the Democratic party convention in the US, lets see if it works at the UN too.
