No country should break nuclear nonproliferation treaties, as more nukes means a greater chance of nuclear apocalypse. Any country that believes it needs nuclear weapons must produce their own without outside support.
China would not tolerate Taiwan even talking about nuclear weapons being based on the island. They don’t even like North Korea having nuclear capabilities, such as they are.

Japan was an aggressor nation that murdered countless civilians across East Asia and the Pacific. Attempting to become a regional power by growing military forces is a dangerous strategy that will end in great losses for the Japanese. They would be better off focusing on their industry and avoiding military conflicts.

Considering they have little energy and food independence, they really have no choice but to avoid conflicts. If any great power decided to embargo Japan, there would be little they could do even with a powerful military. Considering the trajectory of the US and China, pushing the offensive is suicide.

Completely unnecessary look into the history book. Japan might want to grow their defence in a changing world.
