Vietnam and China aim to double trade to half a trillion Dollars

Vietjet will lease 10 planes made by state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China (COMAC)

In regard to travel between the countries, Vietnam recommended that the two governments scrap visa requirements for some travelers. Budget carrier Vietjet, meanwhile, has launched five flights, such as between Hanoi and Huangshan, in China’s southern Anhui province, despite cutting other routes to save on fuel.

China will provide loans and training to Vietnam as part of a series of cross-border rail projects, according to a joint statement released on Friday. Beijing has already funded feasibility studies for the projects, amid hopes that one of three lines can start construction this year.

The line will link Hanoi and Vietnam’s factory hub of Hai Phong to the border town of Lao Cai. All three railways could increase Chinese influence in Vietnam while lowering the costs Vietnam incurs in trading with China.

China and Vietnam will partner on critical minerals, chips, artificial intelligence and smart ports, Xinhua reported. The state news agency said the neighbors will prioritize “3+3” strategic dialogues on diplomacy, defense and public security.
