The actual metric to watch out for is the amount of bets on an invasion on Polymarket.

Ledivin@lemmy.world on 11 May 17:48 collapse

I should really set up something to poll that bet for movement so I can get in on it

They’re gathering intel in preparation for airdropping in Marco Rubio so he can go Just Cause on the island.

Yes please. Halo drop Marco Sucio into Cuba like they did Snake into Soviet Russia.

Did intel of the Venezuela attack leak before it happened? To the wide public? As I recall everyone was caught completely off guard.

US geopolitics in Trump era is interesting, war start, but then he chickens out.

limonfiesta@lemmy.world on 11 May 21:43 collapse

Cuba is not Iran.

If they resisted, it would be a post-occupation insurgency.

Brutal, up close, and protracted.

But Trump doesn’t think about the after, he just sees an easy topple, and it would fall quick.

Trump likes the idea of war like the good fascist shit that he is. He has no idea of strategy, he just likes the action for action’s sake. One of the characteristics of fascism , actually.

I understand, and I’m saying that an American takeover of Cuba would be militarily complete in 72 hours.

Trump has the stomach for that.

More than that, Trump might feel he needs that politically to help wash off the stink of failure from Iran.

How he handles an armed and violent resistance to American occupation would be a different matter.

We’re not disagreeing in anything, were saying the same thing.

It won’t be a surprise this time around
