The State Department plans to drastically slash the number of U.S. embassies and consulates in Africa that can process visas for foreigners seeking to come to the United States.

The almost 50 U.S. embassies and consulates that are processing visa applications will be reduced to 20 in the coming weeks, according to three U.S. officials and an internal memo obtained by The Associated Press. There is not yet a set date for the change, but it is expected in June, according to the officials, who were not authorized to comment to the media and spoke on condition of anonymity.

How can you be a coward and an imperialist at the same time?

Let’s watch.

Isolationism, except for bombings. The North Korea approach.

How many countries does North Korea bomb?

As many as they can without getting hit back.

So none, how does it relate to the US following historical US doctrine then?

Typically the two go hand in hand

I’m guessing they will also only process visas of certain phenotypes.

France, feel free to take your statue back. We aren’t using it anymore

Considering what France has done in Africa, maybe they aren’t the right people.

True, France is the last Western European imperial empire imo. They never really gave up imperialism entirely.

idk, the UK still dabbles enough to not not be an empire

The statue was to commemorate the end of slavery, but Black people were living under Jim Crow and at least one Black leader even said that America hadn’t lived up to the statue’s promise.

So then it got transformed into a symbol of immigration - although the US literally created the Chinese exclusion act - and now ice is brutalizing people and nobody can pretend that it lives up to that ideal either.

The United States could learn a lot from France.

Someday soon, he’s gonna slash the budget for Secret Service, and that’s our day to strike!

But they will still be busily processing visas in South Africa for white ‘persecuted’ South Africans.
