Forward he cried from the rear

And the front rank died

And the general sat

And the lines on the map

Moved from side to side…

Is he offering to sell off all of the Catholic Church’s gold to help pay for food?

Give a man a loaf of bread and he’ll eat for a day. Modify societal and political structures to allow him to plant wheat for himself and his community and he’ll eat for a lifetime

Or one of the societies decimated by venereal diseases in large part because the Catholic church didn’t just ban condoms but also claimed (during the height of the 1980s-1990s epidemic) that condom use causes AIDS.

Or one of the many societies otherwise empoverished as a direct result of the actions of the Catholic and other abusive churches.

Weird take to swipe at the world’s most charitable entity.

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 22 Jun 16:52 collapse

the world’s most charitable entity.

Bullshit.

The Catholic Church does a lot more awful things than charitable things and guess what?

None of the charitable things are impossible without the religious and ceremonial aspects, and almost all of the awful things have a causal link to religious dogma including Catholicism-specific rules.
