I would say that’s NK government should feel angry about how their people are being treated by Russia. But the NK government doesn’t give a shit about them either.

I guess these workers are luckier than the NK soldiers being sent to the Ukraine war front to be cannon drone fodder.

Experts eh? And then were the soldiers shot for not having Dear Leader’s haircut, and then brought back to life and shot again for mimicking Dear Leader?

Showers are limited to one or two across a year, an investigation by the Hague-based international law foundation Global Rights Compliance revealed.

If you wanna attack the source then do that, don’t vaguepost.

pinto@lemmy.world on 25 Mar 05:37 collapse

Everything is true about North Korea, even contradicting statements by South Korea and Radio Free Asia. We have always been at war with North Korea. Rations were always 16 onces.

SkyezOpen@lemmy.world on 25 Mar 13:14 collapse

Are both of you bots? The article is about north Koreans being treated poorly in Russia, not north Korea.

Beep boop!

I’m not exactly going to defend the .ml crowd’s positions on North Korea, and certainly not going to argue in favor of North Korea’s living standards, but in all fairness, this really is more on Russia than North Korea. I doubt that Kim Jong Un said “and one shower a year” when cutting his agreement with Putin.

Nurse_Robot@lemmy.world on 25 Mar 04:55 next collapse

In all fairness, we’re talking about two violent dictatorships. Why are you giving either the benefit of the doubt when the topic is human rights violations?

Dearth@lemmy.world on 25 Mar 14:07 collapse

Well, one violent dictatorship has been living under extreme global trade sanctions for the decades after they were a genocide. And the other is Russia. I think either way we’re should look at a story from a known propaganda source like the independent with a grain of salt

Considering how much hazing goes on with their own peers, it looks more like the Russian military experience has cruelty built in.

If you think you are having a bad time; there is always someone having a bader time.

resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world on 25 Mar 06:19 next collapse

No, but, tankies tell me modern Russia is a utopia for some reason.

Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz on 25 Mar 06:21 next collapse

Can you show me anyone who thinks that?

resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world on 25 Mar 06:22 collapse

Yes. 90% of Russians.

Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz on 25 Mar 06:36 collapse

I’ve never been to Russia, but none of the Russians I’ve met thought that.

Maybe the ones who think that stay in Russia, but I feel like you just made up a person in your head.

TheFrirish@tarte.nuage-libre.fr on 25 Mar 14:26 collapse

Are you implying that Russia is a bad place Comrade?

Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz on 25 Mar 15:39 collapse

No, I’m openly stating the place ruled by the oligarchs who benefited from destroying the USSR and selling the copper from the walls is a bad place.

But I don’t think they restrict North Koreans to having no more than 1 shower per year.

bdonvr@thelemmy.club on 25 Mar 07:05 collapse

I don’t think so. They support anti-western international policy but I think the consensus is that it’s a reactionary capitalist hellhole and Putin is a POS

For example this Hexbear thread where even one of the Hexbear moderators says “I would very much like to see [Putin] shot in the face.”

How good must that shower feel? After a year of fighting in all-season mud and debris. Seems a valuable psyop for Ukraine would be to target the showers. Keep them miserable.

finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world on 25 Mar 08:17 collapse

So Russia is trying to make them feel at home?

Cellari@lemmy.world on 25 Mar 09:08 collapse

I think Russia fears the NK would be trying to steal some water to bring to their family
