Are these the foreigners the right wing tells me are coming to commit crimes in Canada?

42 months for killing someone over an unpaid bill seems like a light sentence to me… this is under the assumption the party is the one who decided not to pay, article doesn’t seem to provide much info

This article provides slightly more info. Sounds like they dined and dashed, the youngest guy punched the restaurant owner once, and unfortunately it was enough to kill him. Absolute scumbags for sure, but definitely don’t come across as murderers. They willingly came back to Canada for their trial (after fleeing and trying to hide the fact they were there) and the actual perpetrator made a seemingly genuine apology. I have nothing to say about the length of the sentence, I would need more time to think about it.

Well, I mean, the charge is manslaughter, not murder.

No, only the youngest man (Robert Evans Jr.) went back voluntarily.

The other two (His father Robert Busby Evans, 49, and uncle Barry Evans, 56) tried to argue that since there is no ‘accessory’ crime in scots law what they did was legal. They’re complete scumbags.

Sounds like the episode straight outta Inside No 9.
