MALE, Maldives — The Maldives announces it is banning the entry of Israelis to the luxury tourist archipelago in “resolute solidarity” with the Palestinian people.

President Mohamed Muizzu ratifies the legislation shortly after it is approved by parliament today.

“The ratification reflects the government’s firm stance in response to the continuing atrocities and ongoing acts of genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people,” his office says in a statement.

Wow, the comments on that site are something

Is the TOI a credible source? I feel like it may be biased towards Israel

blakenong@lemmings.world on 15 Apr 14:58 next collapse

It is a pretty stark comparison to lemmy. I’ll never understand how people blindly support anything.

Cheradenine@sh.itjust.works on 15 Apr 15:05 next collapse

Wikipedia describes them as Centrist. This appears to be from their blog though.

Times of Israel has offered a third-party blogging platform since 2012 which allows writers who are not affiliated with the news site to publish online.

Nothing published in that colony is safe to rely on. The entire society is radicalised by Zionist extremism.

Maybe you’d like to work on yours first.

Why?

Contains your army. They killed my friend in Beyruth last year

dataprolet@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 16 Apr 08:22 collapse

It’s not my army and I would if I could.

nomorecids454@lemmy.cafe on 16 Apr 08:32 collapse

It is if you live there.

Have you considered seeking asylum?

kittenzrulz123@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 16 Apr 09:04 collapse

Ive personally been there, its not a small portion of the population its the entire population. The vast majority of Israelis join the GDF and those who don’t mostly support it, if the Maldives banned all Israelis from the entire country tommorow I would support it.

Mrkawfee@lemmy.world on 15 Apr 15:25 next collapse

Maldives has more courage than all of Europe and Middle East combined.

The world is just standing by, allowing this terrorist colony to carry it’s genocide under the tutelage of its rogue state sponsor the US and it’s vassal states.

Props to Ireland though

dataprolet@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 15 Apr 16:00 next collapse

What? Now you punish people for something their government does? That doesn’t make sense at all.

NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io on 15 Apr 17:57 next collapse

Have you heard of... Sanctions? It's a tried and true way of putting pressure on hostile (and also genocidal) governments.

dataprolet@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 16 Apr 08:21 collapse

Yes, sanctions are aiming for weakening the domestic economy, not forbid their citizens of free movement.
en.wikipedia.org/…/International_sanctions_during…

NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io on 16 Apr 08:36 collapse

Like the free movement Palestinians have in Israel and the occupied territories? Maybe try some of your medicine. Also, surprisingly, you do not in fact have the right to free movement to a foreign country, which will probably surprise you given Israelis routinely hold pogroms in the West Bank like they own the damn place.

Any of them rich enough to vacation in the Maldives are rich enough to have left and divested of the place

nomorecids454@lemmy.cafe on 16 Apr 07:51 next collapse

Well we tried putting your leaders on trial and they wouldn’t appear in court. When you do that violence is applied to you. You know, in the name of public peace.

nomorecids454@lemmy.cafe on 16 Apr 07:57 next collapse

Don’t worry sweetie I’m sure you can still ask for asylum in america

Grumpyleb@lemmus.org on 16 Apr 08:37 collapse

Ask the Palestinians how that feels?

dataprolet@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 15 Apr 16:05 next collapse

That’s called collective responsibility and won’t help a single Palestinian.

unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de on 15 Apr 20:12 next collapse

Collective responsibility for collective actions. The Israeli population is more unified in their hatred for Palestinians than Germans were in their hatred for Jews. Israel needs to be stopped, if necessary by force.

SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one on 16 Apr 03:19 next collapse

Riiiiight, because Israel has totally been leaving civilians alone when fighting Hamas.

Take a fucking walk.

dataprolet@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 16 Apr 08:15 collapse

You don’t have to leave moral behind just because your adversary does.

nomorecids454@lemmy.cafe on 16 Apr 08:49 collapse

The moral thing would be to bomb Beit Aghion

SulaymanF@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 06:56 next collapse

Collective Responsibility is what Israel has been arguing to justify violence against Palestinian civilians for literally decades.

nomorecids454@lemmy.cafe on 16 Apr 07:49 next collapse

Look mate, no hate, I’m European, as pacifist as it gets. My grand-grandpa helped the resistance.

I would support bombing tel Aviv as a harm reduction measure. Country who practice collective punishment deserve collective punishment.

Maybe seek asylum

dataprolet@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 16 Apr 08:16 collapse

So you’re calling for an antisemitic genocide?

nomorecids454@lemmy.cafe on 16 Apr 08:27 next collapse

Of course not. Jews did nothing wrong.

I’m calling for a military attack on the state of Israel. Countries who practice collective punishment deserve collective punishment until they stop.

How is it not fair? It’s just harm reduction.

quack@lemmy.zip on 16 Apr 08:49 next collapse

There is already an antisemitic genocide going on in the region. Palestinians are Semitic people.

dataprolet@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 16 Apr 12:04 collapse

I know what you’re referring to, but this is not how the word “antisemitism” works. The word antisemitism was derived from pseudoscientific racial theory that called Jews “Semites” because the thought that Hebrew were semitic people and Jews were the worst within semitic people.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semitic_people#Antisemitism

kittenzrulz123@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 16 Apr 09:08 collapse

Im Jewish and I would absolutely support not only a complete and total withdrawl of recognition of Israel but also an absolute blockade.

nomorecids454@lemmy.cafe on 16 Apr 07:58 next collapse

Also no hate in what I said. I can’t imagine how hard it is to deprogram yourself from genocidal propaganda. Stay safe ♥

Well, Palestinians are free to visit Maldives whenever they like and even get a complimentary souvenir magnet. Better?

I’m not sure what you expect tiny countries to even do apart from symbolic gestures.

Mubelotix@jlai.lu on 16 Apr 07:06 next collapse

Israelis could have revolted but they stayed passive for years, passivility tolerating the wrongdoings of their government. This makes them responsible

dataprolet@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 16 Apr 08:14 next collapse

Israelis are protesting for years you dumbo!

Grumpyleb@lemmus.org on 16 Apr 08:36 next collapse

Unfortunately nothing changed, and Israel has doubled down. I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if Americans start to feel push back soon as well given Trump and Maga running towards fascism at break neck speed.

kittenzrulz123@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 16 Apr 09:06 collapse

That doesn’t mean they have any sympathy whatsoever to the plight of the Palestinians.

NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io on 16 Apr 08:44 collapse

Lmao passively tolerate? That's the Americans; the Jewish Israeli public is an enthusiastic participant in all of this. They've always been enthusiastic participants in Israel's Lebensraum genocide project. I mean ask an Israeli about the Nakba, or better yet see what they did to Rabin.

IndustryStandard@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 07:36 next collapse
