Exclusive: group behind notorious Florida immigration detention center created bid for reconstruction deal
Trump administration insiders and well-connected Republican businesses have been jostling to dominate pending humanitarian aid and reconstruction logistics in the shattered Gaza Strip, according to sources and documents reviewed by the Guardian.
With three-quarters of Gaza’s structures damaged or destroyed by two years of Israeli strikes, the rebuilding effort to come – estimated at $70bn by the United Nations – could be a rich prize for companies that specialize in construction, demolition, transportation and logistics.
But there’s no way to issue long-term contracts for reconstruction or humanitarian aid yet: a Board of Peace, chaired by Donald Trump, was endorsed by the United Nations to administer the territory but is not yet in operation. And the mandate of the new Civil-Military Coordination Center is limited.

Edit - Because someone saw fit to significantly deviate from the topic at hand here: I’m talking very specifically in the context of Israel/Palestine. There are plenty of other differences that should be super obvious to anyone who hasn’t been living in a cave for the last year.

I fully understand how you’re feeling, but we don’t need to go around throwing slurs about other marginalised groups to describe these terrible people.

My take? Harris would have done nothing different in materiel support to Israel. She would have made slight condemning noises, but America would still be shipping money and munitions.
No one cares what you are specifically talking about. It’s a moot fuckin point and bringing it up again literally hurts any argument you might actually have. Frame it differently or get the fuck off the horse.

But i can certainly say that harris wouldnt have mobilized the military on us citizens and given ice a budget equivalent to some of the largest militaries in the world.
So harris would have been a net positive and if you cant see that, youre incredibly ignorant.
I already acknowledged the differences on other aspects, so obviously I can see it and am thus not “incredibly ignorant.”
I am SPECIFICALLY asking about what Harris would have done differently regarding Israel/Palestine. Not immigration. Not LGBTQ. Not Economy. Not military actions regarding other nations. Israel/Palestine.
It’s clear that Harris would be better for the American public on several metrics. But that isn’t the topic of discussion presented by the top-level parent comment and thus isn’t what we are going to discuss here. We can make a separate thread or string of comments on that, but not sure what we would discuss since I think most of us here are in agreement.
