Iran on Saturday denied US claims that it agreed to transfer its enriched uranium abroad and signalled that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed again due to Washington’s ongoing naval blockade.

On Friday, President Donald Trump said the US would maintain a naval blockade on Iranian ports, imposed earlier this week, until a final agreement between the two countries is reached.

Shocking

Of course Iran is going to take every opportunity they get to make the US look like the untrustworthy assholes they have proven themselves to be.

NABDad@lemmy.world on 19 Apr 2026 10:47 collapse

It’s not like they have to try all that hard.

Doesnt handing the uranium over more or less guarantee more american freedom in their land? Fuck that shit.

Serioisly, the americans still trying to apply pressure here is insane. Theyre so owned.

Everyone wants nukes now. How else can you stop the US or Russia or China?

If they close the strait while you’re in the middle of it, are you stuck?

Iran might agree to transfer its uranium to Russia. Russia would issue it as needed to Iran for peaceful purposes.

couldhavebeenyou@lemmy.zip on 20 Apr 2026 02:57 collapse

This is about the 60% enriched uranium. Which ‘peaceful purposes’ do you see for it?

panthera_@lemmy.today on 20 Apr 2026 03:34 next collapse

Well, if it has no peaceful purpose, then Russia will have no obligation to return it.

couldhavebeenyou@lemmy.zip on 20 Apr 2026 03:55 collapse

Well you can read their answer to that in the article. The title, even

panthera_@lemmy.today on 20 Apr 2026 14:21 collapse

Actually, someone posted another article which said that Iran is willing to transfer its enriched uranium to Pakistan.

couldhavebeenyou@lemmy.zip on 20 Apr 2026 19:41 collapse

The transfer to Pakistan is a leak that’s not coming from Iranian sources for as far as I read, so it seems more like something that was coined during the talks or around them. Tbh, I think the US negotiators would gladly accept the offer (after they cleaned the coffee from their notes)

I also read the Iranians would agree to dilute it within their own borders

Of course, any of those solutions would just boil down to the same thing, without losing as much face
