Every year for over a decade has been the hottest on record. And that’s not going to change till our societies change

Only problem? If everything stopped today, we’d see increases in temps for 20 more years.

The article says that 2016 was the previous hottest year on record, so I am not sure what you mean by your first sentence. I do agree with your second sentence though.

But in my country it rained! And now its cold! Wheres your climate change now?? (/s)

ArmoredThirteen@lemmy.ml on 10 Nov 2023 21:58 collapse

Yeah areas I’ve lived are getting massive snowfalls, checkmate global warming people! (Just don’t look at the summer temps or flood trends those don’t count)

avater@lemmy.world on 10 Nov 2023 18:11 next collapse

and sadly nobody gives a shit. To further demonstrate the level of idiocy I give you the quote of one of the chancellor candiates in germany after a century flood:

You don’t change policy just because now we have a day like this

And because of this we do not change enough, fast enough, because there are still idiots in charge who think we can relax and have still a lot of time or deny it completely…

meco03211@lemmy.world on 10 Nov 2023 20:03 collapse

Having a century flood once a century is no cause for change. Having them every few years… well the idiots will just bitch about the infrastructure needing improvement (but don’t you dare raise their taxes for that).

theneverfox@pawb.social on 11 Nov 2023 11:43 collapse

Here’s what blows my mind. A once in a century storm would imply that, more likely than not, the place is going to experience one during your lifetime. And that’s ignoring climate change

How is that the standard to build things to? That’s insane!

Etterra@lemmy.world on 10 Nov 2023 23:52 next collapse

Yeah we know. We, collective, just don’t have even a fraction of the money necessary to stop the rich assholes who are responsible for the overwhelming majority of it.

Am I the only one reading the headline as blaming climate change on climate change?

Black616Angel@feddit.de on 11 Nov 2023 07:14 collapse

Earth just had its hottest year on record - and higher temperatures are to blame

Earth just had its hottest year on record - and scientists always measuring everything are to blame

AceSLS@ani.social on 11 Nov 2023 11:52 collapse

No fair! You changed the outcome by measuring it

Prethoryn@lemmy.world on 11 Nov 2023 11:59 next collapse

The cons should just blame this on Taylor Swift as well.

Lol funny I was watching today’s news and police were arresting climate activist. Protecting and being personal body guard for CEO of shell , woodside etc. Hope it rises by another few degrees may be thats when we all will get out and do something about it
