Keep it in check, Canada. (nervous laughter) We’re not equipped to deal with that right now.

We’ll do our best, eh.

Downside: Deadly virus that can be transmitted through the air and Dr. Oz in charge of public health

Upside: Blame Canada memes

TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee on 19 Nov 22:38 collapse

Nah. We get RFK Jr. and his worm eaten brain to get us out of this

Dr. Oz is in charge of killing the elderly.

affiliate@lemmy.world on 19 Nov 23:16 next collapse

soon we will have state supplied brain worms capable of eating up any virus that happens to enter our systems

SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de on 19 Nov 23:32 next collapse

As long as it will not mutate to be transmissible between humans, I’m not that worried.

When it does however…

skillissuer@discuss.tchncs.de on 20 Nov 00:09 next collapse

now, now, it’s not all bad. maybe it’ll wipe out some of that hellspawn geese

And time for the USA to ban vaccines and infectious disease research, thanks to RFK Jr.

nogooduser@lemmy.world on 20 Nov 12:43 collapse

They’re not going to stop people doing their own research into infectious diseases and vaccines though so it’ll be fine.

floofloof@lemmy.ca on 20 Nov 14:19 next collapse

They’re not going to stop it, just seriously disincentivize it. Pulling billions of dollars of research funding and making it doubtful whether any developed vaccine can be sold in the USA will have a huge effect on the ability of academic institutions to do research and the willingness of corporations to do so.

nogooduser@lemmy.world on 20 Nov 16:47 collapse

Sorry, I guess that I needed a “/s” judging by the downvotes.

I was referring to how anti-vaccers all “do their own research” which generally involves no actual research at all.

floofloof@lemmy.ca on 20 Nov 17:48 collapse

Ah yes, I misunderstood, sorry. I’ll leave my other comment because it’s still a serious concern, and there will be people who think all research should be privately funded.

Half of Americans have a reading level below 6th grade. I’m sure they are up on virology though.
