Wow. I knew this day was coming up, but it’s still crazy to think about how everything has gone to hell in a handbasket over the past year.

chakan2@lemmy.world on 06 Oct 13:50 next collapse

Lol…wtf…the 7th is not the day to celebrate.

FlyingSquid@lemmy.world on 06 Oct 14:00 next collapse

I’m not sure why you see an anti-war protest as a celebration.

chakan2@lemmy.world on 06 Oct 15:54 collapse

Hey…we killed, raped, and kidnapped 1000 people to start this war. Could you stop now?

It’s a really fucked up thing.

Saleh@feddit.org on 06 Oct 15:59 next collapse

Who of the protestors killed and rape someone?

FlyingSquid@lemmy.world on 06 Oct 16:00 next collapse

Who is “we,” all the Palestinian children Israel has killed so far?

rikudou@lemmings.world on 06 Oct 20:00 collapse

Nope, obviously the Palestinians who killed, raped and mutilated many Israelis and started this current conflict.

It kinda looked obvious from the context, but hey, I am happy to shed some light on the misunderstanding!

FlyingSquid@lemmy.world on 06 Oct 20:05 collapse

Okay, well they aren’t being celebrated, so I’m not sure what that has to do with the claim that people are celebrating.

rikudou@lemmings.world on 07 Oct 16:57 collapse

I’m not the one who mentioned celebrations, I just clarified who the other person meant when you seemed to infer something else.

Count042@lemmy.ml on 07 Oct 13:43 next collapse

How many innocent Palestinian children has Israel killed?

Not mentioning that pretty clearly shows you believe some peoples lives are more important than others.

Why is that?

leftytighty@slrpnk.net on 07 Oct 19:02 next collapse

damn it’s been a while since I read about October 7 can you link me to where it came out that 25 thousand children were involved in the attack

Keeponstalin@lemmy.world on 07 Oct 19:43 collapse

There is no justification for any genocide.

The Violent Occupation and Apartheid has been going on for generations. The Oct 7th attack did not come out of nowhere, it is blowback from the generations of violence the IDF has subjected Palestinians to for decades.

There was one verified instance of rape on Oct 7th. Which is completely terrible and unacceptable, like the hundreds to thousands raped and tortured in Israeli Prisons.

Palestinian Prisoners in Israeli Prisons

Palestinians are jailed without charge, forced into false confessions, routinely tortured, raped, denied medical attention, and some killed as a result. This includes hundreds of children. Palestinians denied civil rights (HRW) including Military Court (B’TSelem) Palestinian Prisoners in Israel (wiki) Children are jailed and abused in Israeli prisons (Save The Children) Torture and Abuse in Interrogations (B’TSelem) Thousands of Palestinians are held without charge under Israeli detention policy (NPR) Urgently investigate inhumane treatment and enforced disappearance of Palestinians detainees from Gaza (Amnesty) Israel/OPT: Horrifying cases of torture and degrading treatment of Palestinian detainees amid spike in arbitrary arrests (Amnesty)

In the Shadow of the Holocaust by Masha Gessen, the situation in Gaza is compared to the Warsaw Ghettos. The comparison was also made by a Palestinian poet who was later killed by an Israeli airstrike. Adi Callai, an Israeli, has also written on the parallels in his article The Gaza Ghetto Uprising and expanded upon in his corresponding video

febra@lemmy.world on 07 Oct 18:19 next collapse

It isn’t a celebration. It marks one year since the ethnic cleansing against the palestinian people has started.

Anyolduser@lemmynsfw.com on 07 Oct 18:48 collapse

Remind me again how that started?

bishbosh@lemm.ee on 07 Oct 18:52 collapse

In 1948 Britain gave away land they had colonized to another colonial project.

Anyolduser@lemmynsfw.com on 07 Oct 20:01 collapse

I’m sure that’s what these people got together to commemorate and no other events at all.

leftytighty@slrpnk.net on 07 Oct 21:43 collapse

When we have a moment of silence on veterans day we’re celebrating war

Anyolduser@lemmynsfw.com on 07 Oct 22:11 collapse

Nope, we are commemorating it.

Keeponstalin@lemmy.world on 07 Oct 19:20 collapse

This is a protest against a year of genocide.

Over 42,000 minimum direct deaths, mostly women and children. Conservative estimates that include indirect deaths, from the absolute destruction of all civilian infrastructure in Gaza, is over 140,000.

It’s cute how they call that a War.

It’s the culling of prisoners.
