Two countries lurching to the right get along, who’d see that coming

Japan just wants to make sure it’s a founding member of Axis 2.0

Here’s something that really bothers me and confuses me. If you get hit by two atomic bombs, you end up being an ally to the one who bombed you? You’d think they’d be enemies for life.

It is definitely far more complex than the way you portray it. Decades of interactions between the conqueror and the conquered, etc.

Might help to learn what actually happened

Are you talking about Pearl Harbor?

Are you a troll or just genuinely completely clueless as to what happened after US beat Japan?

Someone already posted the wiki link for the occupation have you tried reading it?

Definitely more complex. After WW2 ended we gave them hundreds of millions to rebuild everything. The relationship we had allowed Japan to become the 2nd best economic in the world with a boom from 1950s-1970s. We are still required to support them in time of need as well due to the treaty. We have been huge partners supporting each other for over 75 years now which has allowed them to be who they are today most likely. Im sure a lot of our history together has a lot to do with their current views and stance right now. Who knows what it will take for them to change that, but clearly were not there yet.

Man, I caught a bit of the protests before I left Japan. It was suprising to see, considering how reserved the Japanese usually are.
