Watched a video where woman in rural japen was saying she couldn’t get mail because postman had to give it to head of house as part of his job and didnt believe she was living alone due to her being foreign with not great Japanese.

Conservatives will run themselves to ruin over a long enough time. The idea of rigid traditionalism that doesn’t adjust for people or culture is foolish. The best thing to happen to Japan will be the population crash bringing humanism to the culture of the islands.

I mean, most countries the rural areas are going to have vastly different gender roles and expectations.

Even more so for indigenous peoples.

People really don’t get that not everyone is a progressive liberal living in a major urban area.

This article isnt acting surprised that the rural areas have more defined gender roles, it’s warning them that it is the reason people are leaving.
