Good. This will make Trump notice that he is forcing the EU to seek business outside the US.

Not really this is a trade deal that has been negotiated for a long time. Plus US->EU is largely services, oil/gas & pharmaceuticals, this is competition largely for agricultural imports that risks increasing deforestation & hurting European farmers, in exchange for opening up South American markets to EU services & manufactured exports.

I could be wrong but I think this is more of a threat to the US in terms of trying to move in on the US sitting on the highest value positions of the supply chain for South America.

I think the deal offers some protection for European farmers by setting quotas on the amount of agricultural imports.

Controversial? Perhaps for US business interests, but not for European consumers.

(From what I know, the farmers in my country are unhappy about the deal, but they have been unhappy about so many things that everybody largely ignores their complaints.)
