Millions of people have joined together to voice their demands of justice after Imamoglu’s arrest. Imamoglu is the lead candidate against Erdogan’s presidency, and has been pushing for an early election before his arrest.

Maybe he meant the population of Istanbul which is 15 million. That is fucking huge. In relative and absolute terms.

I hope this has a good outcome for Turkish democracy. Mainly for their own sakes of course, but the western world also really needs a win against autocratic regimes at this point in history.
