In what he called an “appeal to the conscience” of politicians in Europe and the international community, the first U.S. pope said that “human dignity has no passport and does not lose its value when crossing a border.”

Given how we are in a historically dramatic time period, I think the pope should raise a standing army and go around, slapping people around a little. No warning, no alliances, just all of a sudden a bunch of guys in silly costumes being lead by an archangel coming in to fuck up your day. Hope you’ve been good. It’s Judgement Day, motherfuckers.
Bit weird to hear a Pope talking about history judging folks. Pretty sure religious folks tend to worry about a different sort of judgement, when it comes to immoral stuff, more so than ‘history’ judging them. One of the general ‘draws’ for religion being along the lines of “Don’t worry if you’re getting fucked in real life, your tormentors will get theirs in the next life, and god’ll set you up in heaven for your suffering”.
Also, history seems to show that people generally don’t care/get judged for historical wrongs, and/or that responsibility for historical wrongs gets diluted, generally absolving individuals of wrongdoing. It takes a LOT of bad stuff to have a significant impact on that front – just look at the church’s history with things like Crusades, religious indoctrination/genocides, or child molestation, and how many people still view it in high regard.
Bro in his literal ivory tower doesnt carry the burden of unlimited unchecked migration. Climate change will worsen the problem even more.
What burden? I live in a predominantly migrant neighborhood in europe and we’re all chillin. Are you scared of brown people?
Pretty sane take by the pope.
