Itās not like theyāve been bringing home the bacon. Would not surprise me if theyāve been telling lies about how well the campaign is going.

Iām certain Russian propaganda is in full swing over there. Less certain that arbitrarily killing one of your top military leaders is necessary for that end.

Get real, there is a 100% chance this is just the Kremlin dealing with difference of opinion and this guy was smart enough to not stay above the ground floor of a hotel.
No matter who did it, this is the correct response. If they arenāt responsible, other Russian leaders will still suspect they are and live in fear of it happening to them. If they are responsible, theyāll still suspect that it was the Kremlin, or someone else in Russia, and live in fear. Ukraine taking responsibility or not reduces the amount of fear they might have.

āBlamed Ukraine.ā Ok so now we know it was a political assassination by the Kremlin.
With that out of the way, I get this feeling that typically itās a bad idea to kill your military leaders. I donāt know how the military works in Russia, but given that an oligarch was able to march his PMC to Moscow with no opposition makes me wonder if the Kremlin has any capacity for reasoning over reaction.

The state holds the keys to power that grant it the monopoly on violence. In a democracy, those keys are pretty spread out, in an oligarchy, theyāre less so.

⦠and? What is the Kremlin going to do, declare war?
Military officers are legitimate targets. Either Ukrainian Special Ops performed yet another successful mission within Moscow, or Russia unlawfully merced one of its own generals. Either way itās a bad look for Russia.

I love an Xmas good news story š
Cāmon, there is still time for another great guy
Saving that one for the big day!
Hell yes, more of this to people who deserve it, especially Russian military officers who continue following Putins orders.
Ukraine not even bothering with a response, just silently crippling our enemyās offense. Mature af - politics never solves matters of hostile states
ā¦so it was probably the Kremlin.
Yeah, Iām in the same boat. I believe this is more as Propaganda direct from Putin.
Unless this guy was a dissenting general, doesnāt make a lot of sense from a propaganda perspective. Too costly.

Yeah, exactly my thought when I read what car he had! Strange.
Upd: I checked address (Moscow, Yasnevaya str, 12k5) and this is new building that isnāt very cheap. But definitely not to luxury.
What a strangely circuitous headline
