For anyone wanting that headline explained:
The Lake City plant is owned by the US gov, but run under contract by various companies over the years. The company that runs it is contractually obligated to maintain the capability to make something like a billion rounds a year for the US gov, and they do that by selling what the government doesn’t need to the public. (Most of what they make is sold commercially).
So although true, the story boils down to “cartels bought publicly available ammo in the US and smuggled it into Mexico” where I believe that ammunition is restricted to military use.
The ammo for my riflenis literally called 45-70 Government, and I buy it in Walmart. I believe all small arms ammo desgined for military use is available to the US public.

I think the person you are responding to means that while it is legal for civilians to purchase in the US they do not believe it is legal for anyone in Mexico but the Mexican military to possess
yeah, certain arms and calibers are restricted for military use only by the Mexican government.

I think it’s pretty bad that:
The US is generating this cheap ammo
The US is failing to prevent it being exported
When people call the US the world’s arms manufacturer we don’t just mean the bombs used to commit genocide in Gaza, but also the bullets used to slaughter civilians across America (both North and South)
While the headline is meant to be sensational, I think this is a good reason for Mexico to invade the US. The ammoterrorists need to be stopped from taking over the Mexican streets!

Wow. Mexico should do something about all the guns coming in from the US. Maybe they could build a wall or something.
