Didn’t know they had talking teeth as well!

I wouldn’t believe a word it’s saying. I’m sure it’s lying through its teeth

It’s being completely toothful.

I wonder if this is a good interpretation of the fossil because I can understand pulling it out but without knowing the science drilling into a painful and infected tooth is quite counter-intuitive.

They’ve been around for ~150k years. That’s plenty for trial and error.

It is a lot of time and it is possible in trying to knock a bad tooth out with a rock they inadvertently gouged the infection out and the penny dropped.

I’m wondering when fermentation became common practice, because I’m curious if they had anything to give their patient to forget the pain.

Roughly when agriculture became a thing, if I am not mistaken. I have even heard the argument that it was THE big reason to settle and do agriculture.

Every time I think about Neanderthals I just get an image in my head that they were smart nicer versions of us so they didn’t survive when we decided to just kill them all like we do everything else

What did they pack it with after? Otherwise it would start decaying again quickly.

placebo@lemmy.zip on 18 May 19:58 collapse

No wonder they decided to go extinct after going through this.
