The US had a perfectly good nuclear deal with Iran, but Trump chose to rip it up nine years ago because it had Obama’s name on it.
Should come to no surprise that Iran don’t want to end this crisis diplomatically with the same guy who stabbed them in the back just to spite the Democrats…
Trump sparked anger and concern around the globe on Tuesday morning with his post, which read, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”
I’ve not read the full wording of his Truth Social post until now, but why does it read like he’s trying to cut a wrestling promo?
The US had a perfectly good deal. Israel didn’t. If the deal had stayed in place, the Iranian econony would have roughly doubled by now. That’s a lot more resources that could stay in Israel’s way of expanding into Lebanon for example.
Did an edit to add that before I saw your reply. Don’t buy what Israel tells you about how they love the Iranian people. Consider Israel’s material interests.
E: Also it’s fairly public fact that Israel lobbied against the deal and following it lobbied for repeal.

U.S. government policy has not even closely reflected the will of the people since 1980, at the latest. Instead, the Overton Window kept moving right, and ever-more neoliberal, until we got to a point at which our only choices were between a grifter with populist energy, and a candidate offering a clearance-bin version of the “HOPE” that turned out to be more neoliberal ratfucking back when an effective salesman had pitched it to us.
And, no surprise, tons of people checked out of a political process which offered no meaningful response to their day-to-day life of getting economically ratfucked, because it just drained their energy for no discernable benefit.

You say as if American soldiers aren’t also Americans. It’s not just up to civilians to partake in politics and the resistance of tyranny.
Coups happen all over the world, for various reasons. You’d think an openly genocidal regime headed by a fascist, paedophile, moronic traitor, actively making life worse for the majority and aiding their enemies. Shitting on the constitution, and making veiled threats to cancel elections, would be enough to instigate one, but I guess not.
The stereotype of American soldiers seems to hold up, all bark but no bite unless the opponent is clearly outmatched with bigger weapons.
By one estimate, there were 457 coup attempts from 1950 to 2010, half of which were successful.[3]
I’ll accept my share of the blame for not being an active insurgent against the US government as long as we’re also holding Russian and Chinese people to the same standard - failing to thwart genocide(s) by a powerful authoritarian regime while under 21st century surveillance and brutal working conditions. The US has been openly genociding trans people within its borders and no one cares. People turned out for Palestine and Venezuela to the extent that the state allowed them to, but have been seemingly silent on Cuba. Genocide is as American as the Kardashians.
To be clear, I’m not talking about politically savvy users on Lemmy. You’re not the problem. The problem is the “white moderate” that MLK talked about in his letter. The problem is the apoliticals who complain about having to take the scenic route to Starbucks because of protesters on the streets. It’s the so-called “adults” who treat politics like an optional sport. It’s the people who have never heard of AIPAC, and who act surprised to learn that the US is at war. Those people need a good wake up slap.
The cultists are too far gone, the only hope for them to rejoin civilized society is literal cult deprogramming
Look, I agree with every one of your other points, but to say that “the US has been openly genociding trans people” is ludicrously stupid. Yes, some of the states are making anti-bathroom laws, and some of the states are making laws about not allowing medical/therapeutic support to minors for transitioning, and the federal government is making anti-trans executive orders about colleges… but genocide? Seriously?
Don’t water down the use of the word genocide. It’s a very serious thing that is currently happening and supported by the US, but that is not what is happening with trans people. Yet. It might happen with the way things are going, but not yet.
Most people on here gave Jewish pundits shit for calling 700 Jewish deaths in the October attack another “holocaust” and “genocide.” We give those same people shit for not calling 70,000 Palestinian deaths a genocide. Don’t be like those people.
Trans people being effectively legislated out of existence and the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention has issued three red flag alerts, but go on about how it’s not a genocide
the Lemkin Institute believes that the United States is squarely within the early to middle stages of a genocidal process against trans people, the goal of which is to completely erase transgender people not only from public life but also from existence in the U.S. and globally
(I’ll also note that this is specifically why I fled the US when I had the chance)

Did an edit to add that before I saw your reply. Don’t buy what Israel tells you about how they love the Iranian people. Consider Israel’s material interests.
E: Also it’s fairly public fact that Israel lobbied against the deal and following it lobbied for repeal.
Hmmmm how about no… Israel had a chance but decided to become the new Nazis… they can go fuck themselves back to the stone age for all I care
I only meant for analysis sake 😅
Yes but this is the slippery slope that can justify any and all atrocities…
There is a difference between “justify” and “explain.” He’s not saying what happened is OK, he’s explaining why some people were motivated to ruin what most purple thought of as a good thing.
Again I UNDERSTOOD… but this is a slippery slope, “explaining” why “it makes sense” to commit genocide is too close to the SLIPPERY SLOPE I am complaining about
You keep saying “I understand” and then displaying that you don’t understand.
I mean, I can explain why Grand Moff Tarken blew up Alderaan. I understand why he chose to do that. There is no slippery slope from there to “it’s ok to blow up planets.”
It is crucial that you understand the motivations of your enemy, and understand why he makes the decisions he does. You aren’t going to defeat him by guesswork.
What part makes you think I do not understand?
Absolutely there is… go into ANY forum on US politics and you’ll find the most immoral decisions labeled as “it was their best move”… if you go further you’ll see those turned into “they’d be stupid not to do it”… and so forth
“consider” as in “you won’t understand why Israel does what it does unless you think about”, it doesn’t mean “give them what they want”
yes, I understood… but again, this is the slippery slope where “the best move” is justified regardless how heartless and immoral it may be
My point is I do not care what Israel had to win by this. This is wrong and they should pay dearly for their crimes against humanity
Tbh, it sounds too coherent to be him.
Who would’ve thought the art of the deal is just black mailing?
The Art of the Deal: Letting your fragile self be easily manipulated into getting nothing that you wanted.
So, hey, Americans, your president is openly threatening genocide. You might uh, want to do something about that. Just a thought.
but they didn’t vote for the genocidal kamala.
how could this have happened???
U.S. government policy has not even closely reflected the will of the people since 1980, at the latest.
So… you asked.
Open to suggestions.
I don’t think any of y’all know how well protected this asshole is
Seriously, there seems to be this delusion that we all just have magic buttons that execute our politicians on a whim. What the fuck do you expect us to do, specifically, to fix this?
oh, anything short of killing ourselves at the government will not be enough for the freaks on this website.

In pretty much every other western country, the populace could reasonably exert force over their national armed forces because those armed forces are reasonably sized. But the entire active duty military of Germany has fewer personnel than the on-base population of a single US military base (JBLM 210k, Germany 185k), and JBLM is only the 4th largest base in the US…
Not to mention, our military budget is more than the GDP of 85% of the countries in the world, and it’s only getting bigger. The proposed budget for next year is more than 90% of the world’s countries’ GDP. Think about that for a few minutes.

I’ll accept my share of the blame for not being an active insurgent against the US government as long as we’re also holding Russian and Chinese people to the same standard - failing to thwart genocide(s) by a powerful authoritarian regime while under 21st century surveillance and brutal working conditions. Sure I’m disappointed in all of us who aren’t part of a resistance, but let’s be realistic.
You say that but months ago when he was threatening to invade Canada, as a Canadian I thought “if I sneak up and kill just one of these invading fuckers before I gwt popped I will have done my duty” im just a regular guy but I feel that in my gut and I know A LOT of us do.
But you guys don’t have that sense of survival for some reason. You just shrug and go “I don’t wanna get a boo boo or miss project runway” you’re being invaded right now, your citizens are being murdered by federal invading forces and you are doing nothing but fighting among yourselves about who is the true leftist.
Mate, I imagine we’ve all thought that, but there’s a big gap between thinking it and doing it, and from where I’m sitting it appears you’re the exact kind of internet tough guy you’re speaking out against.
Wow, you fantasized about killing someone? That basically makes you a war hero. You truly earned this: 🎖️
o7
Anything but site there on a keyboard fighting with other leftists about who is the true leftists
especially since the whoopsie that one time
Insurrection?
Can you plan and execute an insurrection in less than 24 hours?
Most people couldn’t even get to DC with less than a weeks notice.
Work together with independents and disenfranchised republicans to primary 75+% of the democratic party over the next 4 years.
The GOP and the DNC are the sword and shield of the wealthy elites respectively.
Not a short term solution, but the best time to plant a tree is 10 years ago. 2nd best time is today.
Simultaneous angry mobs outside the white house and mar-a-lago could be nice. I would come out from California to join that.
It’s mind boggling to me there have been no riots by this point.
If that’s mind boggling then you really need to read an actual history book.
Life for the avg America is FAR from problematic enough to have riots start yet. Even our worse off tend to have just enough care from other Americans to be upset but content. We are taking care of our down trodden just enough.
You need starvation, active destress, or wide spread unemployment.
We have food it’s just expensive.
We arnt in active physical danger.
We have just enough jobs that groups of people arnt massing together.
End of the day the very same message of help your fellow man, do good in your community and decades of social safety nets put into place. Are doing their job of allowing the American people to coast by happy enough.
If you want riots then you need to start making people physically miserable, scared and hungry.
Then what was the point of all that 2nd amendment talk? Was it all bullshit cause you wanted to keep your pow pow?
Guns and no balls, Thats what’s so dangerous about the regular American.
Like I said elsewhere, your country was won by fat farmers and regular people who grew balls.
Who supports him?
Who supports them?
I think the application of pressure goes where its possible to apply it, instead of where it isn’t.
They just filed articles of impeachment - so that’s something…
www.congress.gov/119/…/BILLS-119hres1155ih.pdf
Unanimously supported or is it again an isolated democrat move? Asking because it’s kindof annoying to let USA delete a whole civilization…
And it’ll go just like last time, every Republican closes ranks and it wastes everyone’s time
Its been proven that the impeachment doesn’t do shit. Infact the last time we impeached our president he was allowed to run and be elected again.
Even the local traffic cops have enough firepower to take down a village; the farce of a 2nd amendment does nothing against real tyranny, it’s just for meatheads to injure themselves or their loved ones and oppress minorities when they get scared. I’m in California; all my votes go blue and are meaningless on the national scale. No amount of standing in front of buildings or blocking roads will make a dent in the capitol overlords that own the levers of accountability.
Most if not all of us lack the resources and opportunity to do anything direct.
(I’ll also note that this is specifically why I fled the US when I had the chance)
For anyone skimming by, the article I linked is actually a pretty good read if you have 5 minutes
Someone may have replied with this already, but: stoptrumpswars.org we’re trying.
Our demented puppet President has powerful people propping him up. Would be mighty helpful if Germans did something about Thiel, and South Africans did something about Musk. Australians, you good with handling Murdoch? Okay, let’s go.
Which authoritative body has the power to do something about it, that isn’t openly in cahoots with him? I’ll wait.
The Iran leadership has been acting like civilized humans while the American pedophile coalition has been trashing, yelling and sinking deeper in their war crimes and genocidal drivel like barbarians and animals. If Iran disappears we will always remember this.
Which is wild, since a couple months ago most of the world would have said that Iranian leadership were murderous psychopaths for killing thousands of civilian protesters. Yet, here we are with those same leaders being the adults in the room.
I guess your authoritarian regime starts to look good when the Americans slaughter an elementary school full of your children?
I don’t understand the need to paint everything in black and white, not every conflict has a straight-forward “good guy” or “bad guy” - the US is self-interested and hates Iran because the current regime challenges US hegemony and deposed a US-backed autocrat to get in power. Meanwhile, Iran is a horrible, authoritarian theocracy that engages in medieval criminal punishment spectacles. It’s all bad.
I would wish he would just die already but I honestly believe he is just a puppet with 80 different hands up his ass.
Good. Call his bluff. Show the world what a fucking idiot asshole he is.
That sounds good, until he actually strikes
One would hope he’d get assassinated at that point. Him and all his cronies.
I am reasonably sure the world is well aware. But I’m happy to have extra receipts for it.
The sentiment might be right, but I’m guessing you’re not on receiving end of the bombs
It isn’t really “talks” when the alternative is to be destroyed as a civilization. That’s bullying and extortion
Huh. Weird. Turns out when you show a demented willingness to cause mass genocide, people might get the impression that negotiations aren’t really an option anymore.
I thought we didn’t have any talks, I mean, except the ones we were having literally the day before the bombs dropped.
He’s a shitting, screaming, spoiled child having a temper tantrum. Oh, he also has access to the nuke codes. Nothing to worry about. /s
Well if the nukes fly tonight I hope there’s at least a few that refuse the orders
Americans if this is not the time for second amendment I don’t fucking know what it. This is Munich 1938, it’s now or deal with a king and a world war where you guys are the Nazis.
The opposition has been infighting and soon you’ll all be silenced too. Before Germany invaded Europe, they stamped out any dissent within their borders first. Throwing the growing list of undesirable in camps without due process.
It’s not like this is already happening in America is it? 🤔 But really Americans how much more do you need? And don’t just throw your arms up in the air and dodge blame while you sit on your couch watching Netflix.
Your country was won by fat farmers and every profession in between when they realized it was UNITE OR DIE
No one in their right mind talks with a lunatic.
By acting crazy and threatening people, dj appears to have made up his own mind long ago.
