Why Media Ignores the Coming Disaster.

Be careful. If the OP thinks you’re a doomer they’ll ban you from the /climate sub lol.

TokenBoomer@lemmy.world on 19 Mar 2024 01:54 collapse

I’m already banned. Action won’t take place until doomerism reaches critical mass.

Are we all doomed? How to cope with the daunting uncertainties of climate change

Nudding@lemmy.world on 19 Mar 2024 09:45 collapse

I don’t think action will take place at all.

Australia’s media market is controlled by just two corporate entities, of which, the least insane one is the Murdoch press. To be clear, that’s an indictment of Nine Entrainment, not an endorsement of Murdoch.

It literally insane corrupt megacorp (News Corp) vs even more insane and more openly corrupt megacorp (Nine Entertainment).

I agree our media is incredibly controlled.

However, this summer didn’t feel different, it got to 45C as normal in Perth, the heatwaves did not feel longer or worse.

Maybe we’re frogs in water but I’d say such an article would not engage the public

This summer it felt like there were more hotter days than a normal summer, few strings of 43+ especially in suburbs, Still getting up to high 30s even now.

The frogs only stayed in the water because Friedrich Goltz lobotomized the frogs beforehand. Which makes it a perfect metaphor because the Murdoch media has definitely lobotomized the public.

Here in Brazil it has been fucking hell - way hotter than the average year and unbelievably hotter than the two previous years, which were too cold.
