China is moving to approve a sweeping law to promote what it calls “ethnic unity,” a measure that critics say would further erode the rights of some minority groups as authorities cement a push toward assimilation.
Academics and observers say the new provision represents a setback for the identity of ethnic minorities because it mandates the use of Mandarin Chinese in compulsory education, among other things.

Pretty bleak
(AP) Associated Propaganda 🙄
We know all the same stuff that you know—because we used to be you—and a bunch of other stuff that you don’t know.
Yet somehow it is we who’re ignorant.
And the Uyghurs
They were and are, in spite of the US’ efforts to wreak havoc via Salafi Jihad terrorists.

Funnily enough, neither the global times or cgtn talk about what the law actually does
economist.com/…/there-are-56-ethnicities-in-china…
56 is by official Chinese count. There are many, MANY more. China doesn’t recognize them.
And to think, all of them have to dump their ethnicity and adopt a Han one or ‘disappear’.
There is no or. They will just disappear culturally and individually if they persist.
The One Chinese Policy.
Wait, what? China literally does constant propaganda about accepting all the cultures and trying to dispel the bigotry of thr people
Well there is your answer
Every country does propaganda constantly. Its not inherently bad. Plus, I was referring to them proactively trying to build a collective and cohesive society between 5 disparate groups. I tbink thats very admirable. Wouldn’t it be, is america did that? Shit like: “we are all chinese”
They accept all the cultures as long as they’re all Han
I get the joke but is it based in reality, at all?
It is almost as if it is a lying authoritarian regime.
