I took from the article that the surviors were “rescued” by the Navy. Is it weird that I suspect that they will “succumb to their injuries” in short order?

It’s either that or drugs and CSAM.

I don’t get these murders. Who is this possibly helping? What purpose does this serve? I know they want to get rid of Venezuela’s leadership but why slaughter these people?

FaceDeer@fedia.io on 17 Oct 2025 06:27 next collapse

My guess would be that they want to provoke Venezuela into defending their citizens, which they can then point to as a hostile act to justify direct strikes.

TuffNutzes@lemmy.world on 17 Oct 2025 06:32 collapse

The regime is provoking anyone and everyone. The bully walking around pushing and hitting people and asking them to come at them.

So they can say “See? See how those bad people are coming at the United States (or ICE or the regime in anyway). Now we get to retaliate!”

Any conflict with Venezuela can be used to start a war that could keep Trump in office.

It’s probably in the best interest of Venezuela and many other governments to not give Trump this opportunity.

DaTingGoBrrr@lemmy.world on 17 Oct 2025 10:28 collapse

How would a war keep Trump in office? The US doesn’t have any laws that will stop elections during war time. Trump think that they do, because he told Zelensky that, and Ukraine has laws preventing an election during war.

Interesting. Funny how much they lie and how those lies somehow get presented as fact to me.

If wars kept presidents in office, presidents would only leave office voluntarily or through old age. The US is always at war.

Legally speaking it doesn’t, but it does grant him many more ways to use executive powers which he could definetly levy to accumulate enough power to remove term limits from the equation.

This is all a front just so he can invade Venezuela and steal that lady’s Nobel peace trophy. /s

Ancalagon@lemmy.world on 17 Oct 2025 15:53 collapse

She is actually going to hand it to him as a savior. No /s this will actually happen. The point is to get a nobel peace prize via war.

Murdering civilians of another country is all the rage when you are trying to hide the Epstein files.
