The problem is that the oil companies don’t want to. The real timeline for actually producing oil is like ~10y. And who knows what demand will be in 10y. Even if they could magically transport it out of the ground tomorrow, oil is already cheap and pushing it down would bankrupt half of Texas.
America is an energy exporter, the days of “addiction to foreign oil” don’t apply anymore.

Perhaps the plan is to drive up demand with war, non-petro power rollbacks, cutting emissions regulation, and datacenters?

They know one thing: Trump’s support won’t last 18 weeks, let alone 18 months, let alone any real timeframe.
And the US produced more oil than Saudi Arabia, Iraq and the UAE combined in 2024. You can probably add Qatar and Oman on that pile too for 2025…
