This comment says it all. No further discussion needed.

Actually I would really like to know what the color orange and literal piles of shit ever did to that person that they insult them by associating them with Trump.

The briefings suggest that the US is willing to consider a trade deal with the EU on these terms – but it would also want the EU to limit or discontinue non-tariff barriers to trade, potentially including stringent EU product standards, including some food standards.

At present neither US beef nor chicken can gain entry to the EU market because of strict EU rules – something which has repeatedly been complained of by the Trump administration.

Let’s see, on one hand there’s chlorine chicken … on the other cheap solar, wind and maybe EVs (perhaps made in the EU) … 🤔

ms_lane@lemmy.world on 15 Apr 22:18 collapse

Additionally from an Australian perspective-

US: 6% of our exports

China: 38% of our exports

rustyfish@lemmy.world on 15 Apr 19:26 next collapse

They suggest that the overall US strategy is to decouple from China, and that any country who wishes to have a trade deal with the US will also have to distance itself from Beijing.

Not a fan of China. The CCP and their army of brown nosers can go fuck themselves. But the same goes for that orange fuck and his cult.

And if you excuse me, I have to decorate my European eggs for Easter.

Does the US really believe its a more valuable trading partner than China at this point? All the important resources for maintaining basic infrastructure come from there. Sure the US has fancy tech stuff and software but the lights will stay on without those. Without China tho, the lights certainly do not stay on.

FelixCress@lemmy.world on 15 Apr 22:39 next collapse

US can go and fuck themselves.

As a US citizen I agree.

-put on tariff

-everyone trying to negotiate with others for a better deal

-trying to cut tariff so everyone doesn’t look for a better deal elsewhere

-art of the deal

And i thought he got everyone begging him not to do it.

Yermaw@lemm.ee on 16 Apr 14:47 collapse

Core part of any relationship is trust. I think with tycoons reaching demigod status they forgot about that.

FLX@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 16:07 next collapse

Nope, we will never trust USA again. Also, you have nothing of value to trade, only tech that we should replace anyway because you use it to spy us.

Fuck you, and by that I mean fuck trump but also all the citizens regardless of their political side.

danciestlobster@lemm.ee on 17 Apr 01:51 next collapse

Most of us don’t want this shit either. Definitely fuck trump but many US citizens are the victims of a deeply fucked system and doing everything we can to fix things

FLX@lemmy.world on 17 Apr 06:47 collapse

I’m a bit sorry for the Sanders/AOC supporters, but still. You elected this turd TWICE. The whole world has to deal with your shit and gobble US news everyday again, and this is just unbearable.

I swear any EU country would be on fire for way less, with riots and strikes everywhere.

I’m really not sure you guys are understanding how shattered the image of USA is. Even worse than during the Iraq war.

Most people here except our local fascists wants to cut all ties with your country…

danciestlobster@lemm.ee on 17 Apr 11:59 collapse

I understand that fairly well, and totally get it. The us should never have had the power and influence it had before all this, and it’s long overdue for other countries to be more mistrustful based on how deeply broken and unstable the country has been even before trump.

I think it’s important to understand that setting the country on fire as you point out is not quite as simple here though. For starters the country is enormous and most people are destitute with limited means of transportation, even getting to their states capital building for example is outside the realm of possibility. Then consider our laws are so backwards in many states anyone who, for example, is peacefully protesting but obstructing a roadway can legally be run over and murdered. And that every trump supporter (1/3 of the county, appx) has a dozen assault rifles at home that they would love to use on anyone who dares complain about their lord and Savior.

None of this is to say that protests aren’t possible or the country shouldn’t be on fire. Several million of us marched a couple weeks back for example. More violent protests are coming but would be suicide without strong organization, and even with it is very likely to have an enormous death toll. One that many of us will still be willing to pay, once it can be as impactful as possible.

In a much broader sense, though, I would like to say I don’t believe it is justified to blame EVERY citizen for the actions of their leadership, especially in “democracies” as deeply broken as the US. I don’t hate every Russian because I don’t believe the all hate Ukraine and love Putin. I don’t hate every Israeli since many of them still don’t support genocide and are unable to stop their leaders from being warmongers. I don’t hate every German who lived through Hitler since many didn’t want that either. Hate the people in charge, hate the people who support them and helped them get in charge, but support the victims of those people. Collective punishment and the notion that EVERYONE in a country should pay for the actions of its leadership is still a war crime and ignores the people who do everything they can to stop it, even when it doesn’t work (yet)

FLX@lemmy.world on 17 Apr 12:49 collapse

Fair points.

But it feels like the BLM riots for example where way more serious than the current protests.

Maybe medias are not covering them, but still : you have social medias, be your own medias.

You are in the country of guns, it’s time to all arm yourselves and defending it seriously.

MAGAS want to run over protesters ? Fucking shoot them.

It’s now or never, at the pace things are going all of you with a brain will be either deported or put in death camps. And you probably won’t get external help, because even your left fucked other countries.

We should demand that the US give the EU first dibs on all their minerals.

Zacpod@lemmy.world on 17 Apr 01:07 next collapse
