This has nothing to do with Russia.
This is related to inner-Iraqi conflicts with Iran and Israel in the mix as the Kurdish regional government is supported by the US and Israel. The Kurdish government in Iraq probably helped Israeli intelligence to infiltrate Iran from there to take out Iranian air-defense at the start of Israels bombing campaign.
