‘He’s no Winston Churchill’: why Starmer can shrug off Trump’s insults over Iran (www.theguardian.com)

The prime minister’s cautious stance about helping the US against the Tehran regime mirrors that of the electorate

It was perhaps the most attention-grabbing moment of prime minister’s questions. Responding to yet another Conservative salvo about his approach to Iran and how it might affect ties with America, Keir Starmer was direct.

“American planes are operating out of British bases – that is the special relationship in action,” he said. “Sharing intelligence every day to keep our people safe – that is the special relationship in action. Hanging on to President Trump’s latest words is not the special relationship in action.”

And certainly in the last few days, hanging on to and then endlessly, painfully analysing Trump’s ever-changing opinions has become even more of a national pursuit than it was before.

Meanwhile, he’s allowing the US to carry out strikes from UK bases. 100% the ghoul wants to pretend Iran attacked UK troops because he thinks it will enable him to lead the UK to war

It’s more the case that, unlike the Spanish PM, who said no, Starmer immediately agreed to let the US use UK airfields to bomb Iran. Nobody’s talking about committing UK troops at this stage, even the quasi-MAGA Reform Party.

Correct, he agreed to let the US use UK airfields knowing that those airfields will be bombed, giving him a pretense to go the the brits and go “We’ve been attacked! We need to commit our own planes and maybe even troops!”

Hell he probably thinks it’ll be just like the good ol’ days of Tony Blair’s Labor.

It’s a dumb comment because Churchill persuaded FDR into war. He didn’t follow the USA’s lead.

Ironically, one time Churchill did join in with the USA was to restore the unpopular Shah of Iran, which contributed to the Islamic revolution, which led to today’s war.

Trump doesn’t learn from history.

Keir Starmer is in the Epstein files. I have no proof but it’s safe to say from his actions his name is likely one of the many redactions or has been entirely removed.

Lump him in with Jimmy Saville now.
