While Tesla’s global sales have taken a significant hit during the first quarter of 2025, the electric vehicle (EV) brand has seen a boost in sales in Ukraine.

Increased competition from lower-cost Chinese EV manufacturers have made Tesla prices more affordable for some Ukrainian consumers.

According to Ukraine’s Association of Car Manufacturers, the demand for electric vehicles was on the rise in February and March, with Tesla leading in sales of used electric cars.

Hey, wait a minute

They’re dead cheap, pun intended

lupusblackfur@lemmy.world on 15 Apr 2025 23:27 next collapse

Any bets they’re buying the Swastikars to use as sacrificial power sources for some kind of IED’s…

😂 🤣

AshMan85@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 2025 01:27 next collapse

close, i would bet for their drones

redsand@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 16 Apr 2025 03:21 collapse

They could be the IED. Self drive to target trigger on brake or crash… Probably just strip the cyber truck for parts and batteries it wouldn’t make it to target

What kind of nincompoop is both Ukrainian and still trusts any Elon musk tech

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 2025 00:59 next collapse

It’s literally just “give me the cheapest car on the lot” and Teslas are bottom of the barrel

neukenindekeuken@sh.itjust.works on 16 Apr 2025 12:32 collapse

This. They just need vehicles that go forward, and occasionally backwards. Whatever’s cheapest works best.

AshMan85@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 2025 01:28 next collapse

probably taking the batteries for their home built drones

phx@lemmy.ca on 16 Apr 2025 01:59 next collapse

I’d imagine that they good l could also be converted into decent power banks for homes during outages

Jarix@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 2025 18:21 collapse

Or taking components to build more drones as china fucks the strategic metals market? I’m just f guessing

AshMan85@lemmy.world on 17 Apr 2025 11:56 collapse

that is what i said

I must have replied to the wrong comment sorry

Ukrainians have been buying John Deere tractors for years… and reprogramming them.

No reason why they couldn’t do the same with Teslas.

Kamikaze swastikars

Just gift them to the Russians and wait.

bstix@feddit.dk on 16 Apr 2025 07:57 collapse

Put them in self drive mode towards Moscow.

Vinfast investors are eating good. They don't don't even have to do anything.

thejml@lemm.ee on 16 Apr 2025 02:45 next collapse

They might be cheap, but I’d worry Musk would deactivate them remotely at any time.

ms_lane@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 2025 08:07 collapse

At the end of the day, it’s a unibody steel frame with some electric motors and batteries.

Ripping out Elon’s shitty electronics and replacing them with something better isn’t going to be in the ‘too hard’ basket for Ukraine.

NotKyloRen@lemmy.zip on 16 Apr 2025 17:13 next collapse

Look up Rich Rebuilds on YT. He not only defied Tesla by rebuilding one from totaled Telsas with otherwise functional parts. But he also built one with (iirc) a V8 gas engine.

Jarix@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 2025 18:19 collapse

Uhh can i get a massive upront 0 interest loan to start a new company to do exactly this(and to also learn how to do this…)

axh@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 2025 07:35 collapse

Translation: used Teslas are now so unpopular, that only people regularly bombarded by Russia are willing to buy them (they probably dustrust Chinese cars more).
