Argentina’s Supreme Court discovered dozens of boxes filled with Nazi material dating from World War II, including photos and postcards, among its archives in its basement.
Argentina’s Supreme Court has found dozens of boxes filled with Nazi material among its archives in its basement.
The 83 boxes hold documents including postcards, photographs and notebooks, as well as propaganda material, the court said on Sunday.
Court employees discovered the material by chance while preparing for the creation of a museum.
“Upon opening one of the boxes, we identified material intended to consolidate and propagate Adolf Hitler’s ideology in Argentina during the Second World War,” the court said.

You don’t need to pretend Musk has German ancestry to criticize them. His father is a violent bigot who supports Russian imperialism and his maternal grandfather was a racist, fascist Southern African politician.

But if you read the article, is not what we assumed. The boxes were being shipped from the German embassy in Japan to Argentina, and were marked as personal effects. The Argentinians did a spot check and found the propaganda, so they confiscated it because they were worried it could impact their neutrality. It went to the courts, up to their supreme court, though no one knows what action if any the court took. Obviously the Nazis didn’t get the material back.
Argentina being a safe haven for Nazis didn’t happen until after the war, if I understand things correctly.

Goddamn, I hope all this material gets properly cataloged by professionals and published. I would love to read about it, as someone with an interest in WWII and the hunt for escaped Nazis.
